Transistor/Rectifier

I finally get my 'hawk back today...it's been in the shop for over a week waiting on parts.

Here's what happened:

I was riding down a side street, really moving, and the bike just shut off on me. No lights, no horn, no odometer, nothing. I tried another battery that I had and still nothing. I'd been having trouble starting it, especially when it was cold and I thought that it might have something to do with the starter (grounding out maybe). But when I got it to the shop they found that the rectifier had gone bad.

My only question is...is that the reason I was having trouble starting it in the cold?

But $260 later I get my baby back.

A very common problem and could be a factor in cold start if it wasn't fully charging the battery. Next time you have a problem ask here first you probably could've saved yourself about $100 or more and did it yourself. Real easy fix for that and there's a wealth of knowledge here. Good luck with it.
