towing expenses
Good morning my freinds:), I was just tossing an idea around with my better half, who is looking forward to riding along side me this summer, who is getting her own ninja 500 here in a few weeks, but we were wondering about hooking up some sort of small trailer to the back of 1 of our bikes(mine of course) to haul a lil extra on the longer rides(over 2000 miles) or would it cause to much of a problem? not a big trailer like the goldwings or harleys tow but the tiny single tire type (it would be matching to the bike of course before even being hooked up, :p) I surely would appreiciate whatever responses, good or bad, before I put much cash into this project, thanks guys have a great day!

How agressively do you ride? Because the only reason those big bikes are ok with trailers is they generally riden very conservatively. I have never pulled a trailer, but have spoken to someone who has, a goldwing rider. He said that even with his big bike the trailer would still try to push his rear wheel out under hard breaking. Seems dangerous to me considering with two motorcycles you should easily be able to carry all the gear required to go 2000 miles.

Attachment 8231not aggressive at all, very relaxed rider actually, this is my 1st sportbike, been on cruisers and dirt bikes, it was just a thought I had while talking to the wife about this summer, thought it would be cool to have extra ammenities, besides the trailer I had n mind would be smaller than some of those that the goldwings pull

Yeah, I agree with the others. Go for luggage. Two bikes and a full compliment of bags will keep you in food, clothes and lodging for two weeks.

I carried enough for two weeks on my bike when I did my CO trip. You just need to come up with effective packing strategies. The bike handles well with extra weight on the back, too.

Saddlebags, tailbag and tankbag will allow you to carry more than a small trailer. Repeating this setup on the wifes bike will give you quite a bit of capacity without hindering your ability to maneuver in a parking space or stop in a hurry. (in so far as the pushing goes.) If all of that is still not enough you could get backpacks as well, and you're not leaving a trailer outside for the curious.

true about the leaving it alone outside but if its locked to the bike then theres no problem with that, I sure appreciate the thoughts though guys , we have also considered the bags also been goin thru J&P cycles theres some really cool bags in there, but im not ruling out the trailer still it has plenty of applications, like just taking a cooler to the lake or whatever right? the concept is worth the time I think, Ill keep u all informed along with pics as i get this goin, thanks guys for the feed back
