Don't quote me on this but the introductory year (98-the fast ones) was 450,000 bikes. It never matched these sales figures again and the model was gradually abandoned by Honda. Only to leave the VTwin market to a bunch of smalls that couldn't hope to match Honda engineering but were more than willing to hop on the hog - so to speak.

98 was the second year, 1997 was the first year

As my bike sits at the side of the house awaiting a backordered gasket from my local crappy honda dealer.I joined up just to answer your question.Ive been looking at my VIN# for yearsThe bike was made 10/97 its an 98 model the last six digits are what counts.Mine are 000518.The first two are the model run..00=1998 up to 80=2006 the last four are order made.Theres another site where you can register by VIN# The 1998-00-bikes end at 8008 the 1999-10-ends at 4727....2000-20-ends at 3481....30-2247.....40-872....50-1029.....60-1021.....70-381....80-134..... So having used all my brain power up Im going too round up and squint my eyes and say 22,497 Super hawks were made.Theres no way it could be 450,000 Thats crazy talk, that would mean 20 million CBR600's Any ways thats my guess and you can quote me on it (all disclaimers apply)

Anybody on here own a '97? You sure that's not like an '83 vette? I was under the impression it was an early release '98 model.

Hehe! Nobody has a 97. We have had this conversation before. Mine was manufactured 07-97 but didn't get off the boat until 98. None of them did. You got a friend that has a registered 97? Post a picture of the title. They don't exist.

Hey doggerman that some impressive **** for a first post! Welcome aboard! Which gasket are you waiting for? The dealer made me wait two months for a friggin backordered clutch cover gasket so now I keep an extra (actually have 2 extras) around

Yes, you are correct: early release '98 model. US models arrived in the spring of '97. I got my new 98 (#1448) in June of '97.

I guess, 4,399,722 models to date...I would go through the motion of explaining how I came up with that number, but you poor pathetic fools and your kindergarden intelect couldn't keep up...So just take my word for it...Snap!! LMAO

all i know is, i live in louisville ky and i have only seen 1 or 2 other hawks running around. louisville isn't real big but it isn't small either. that's what drove me to the hawk in the first place, it's no cookiecutter. everybody wants to know about it wherever i go.

Me too! I used to go to a bike night every friday with maybe 1000 bikes there and more often than not I was the only superhawk.

There's a guy on third shift where I work that has one, I park next to it in the mornings now if there's an open spot. Same year and color as mine too. Thats the only other one I've seen around here. (Wichita KS area)
