superhawk vs. rc-51

greetings again. it has been a while since i posted. just wanted to get some input from someone who has riden both the superhawk and the rc -51. i really enjoy my 2000 s/h, but have been thinking about a little beefier v-twin. anybody have any comments on the difference and/or similarities?

Most unconfortable bike I have had the pleasure of "sitting" on in the dealership. Makes the CBRs feel like touring bikes. I would put up with the back, wrist and legpain to be able to ride it on the track. I think one is for sale in the classifieds.

marmaladedad 03-13-2007 03:46 PM

I think we've had a few threads on this, no?

I know hawkrider and most recently, engine#9 have some experience with those two (sorry if I left anyone else out).

mikstr 03-13-2007 03:47 PM

you can also check the Speedzilla forums as I belive this topic has been tackled there as well.

dsbunton646,

Welcome back to the forum. This is our twisted form of a re-initiation. We just jack the shit out of your thread and if you've got the balls to stay and reply then we keep you.

So, are you seriously thinking about getting rid of the Superhawk or are you just toying with the idea?

Again, :welcome: back and don't take much of what we say here seriously. We're a fairly tight-knit, great group of intelligent and mature folks here (mostly) and we're happy to help out in any way.

Hawkrider 03-13-2007 05:54 PM

What's up there Dougie? You want some love too?

So how's the wrist? Been kinda excited having been forced to "switch-hit" lately, eh?

:rotf:

nuhawk 03-13-2007 06:00 PM

At least I don't have to dig through the snow to find it! The wrist is better but the thumb is still not good. Good thing I don't live in some other part of the country where that's all you can sit on all winter! :nana: :nana: :nana: :nana:

I ride with a friend who has an RC51 and he can absolutely rip on this bike. I spent about 30 minutes on the bike and my observations:
- carefull hitting the brakes or you'll bruise the family jewels.
- shifting is so short compared w/ the VTR you're mislead into thinking the bike didn't go into gear.
- You sit so far forward, compared w/ the VTR, you feel like your head is right above the speedometer.
- Seat...you better be dragging your knees because to sit still is torture
- Ergonomics...stretch b4 and after the ride and have a chiropractor in your Blackberry
- Bike get's very hot and there are times when he has to shut off the motor at stop lights to prevent overheating. However the engines vibes a lot less.
- Looks...Every morning when he walks through his garage, he feels like a dog w/ two dicks.
- With Yoshi RS-3 cans, the look his neighbors give him once cranked up...priceless!

In short a bike I love to look at but hate to ride.

Hawkrider 03-13-2007 06:15 PM

If I may expound on Hawkbill's findings:

- A Sargent seat helps immensely in the comfort department
- The bike doesn't really run THAT hot but Honda messed up the wiring with the fans. One on each side rad. They BOTH blow IN! I was able to mod mine with one blowing in, one out.
- Ergos....yeah, I'm 6'2" and I was pretty cramped.
- Brakes with HRC pads are infuckincredible!
- I still feel like a dog with two dicks and I sold mine for a 1000RR. :)

marmaladedad 03-13-2007 07:20 PM

What the heck is a dog with two dicks going to do? That's twice as much work to lick both schlongs!! :P

Hawkrider 03-13-2007 07:38 PM

...AND twice as much pleasure. :leghump:

Yeah, and then two bitches with ten kids each...! NO THANKS. ;)

Ogre8472 03-14-2007 04:30 PM

:laughing2: :bitchslap: wow....leave that for the track

EngineNoO9 03-14-2007 06:29 PM

I just switched and gotta say any comparison is really unfair. They're designed for different things. The superhawk was more comfortable for sure, had better low end, and was easier to wheelie :P The rc51 is just sooooo smooth and pulls like a raped ape. It's so incredibly stable in turns and handles like a dream imo. I'm only gonna improve it more with a shock later. I had forks and shock done on my superhawk and it was tons and tons of fun but the rc51 is another world all together.

dsbunton646 03-16-2007 02:23 AM

sorry to "beat a dead horse" (etiquette). i just got a little excited after my trip to daytona bike week and watched a few bikes race at the track. i'll do a bit of forum searching next time. and yes, i love the s/h, but i am considering another bike, hayabusa,rc-51, harley, no wait i got carried away there NO HARLEYS!!

mikstr 03-16-2007 06:15 AM

"hayabusa,rc-51, harley"... deep breaths now, you are getting hysterical (or is that an attempt at humour, we all know what a joke Harleys are) :)

Nice

Digging up an old thread.

My buddy has an RC51 - I think he's looking to sell it - I would love to get it but I'm pushing 60 & I'm too big in the mid section. (Next moto will be a standared riding postion)

What are RC's go for now?

And on another moto site I'm on - guy found an '03 Hawk with 8k miles in good condition for $4k - what do you think of that price?

skokievtr 02-21-2024 02:04 PM

What year VTR1000SP1 or 2, anywhere from 5600 to 9,000

the F at 8k miles for 4,000 is a good price
