Superhawk or CBR 1000 RR

If I had to choose between owning/riding 2002 Superhawk 29k miles ($3200 before ttl) or 2010 CBR 1000 RR 22k miles ($7500 before ttl) which has its perks most?

Apples and Cumquots

Without a doubt I'd pick one of the two! The CBR is faster stops and goes a bit better/quicker, newer tech., Etc. But the Superhawk has more Soul. I'm 64 and I've owned dozens of bike over the years. From a new 1965 Suzuki 80 to my current favorite, a 1998 VTR1000F. I've had a CBR1000 and it was nice but ,I've only had a few unforgettable favorites; 1981 Yamaha SR500, a Honda NT650GT, and my all time favorite, My Superhawk.Like all of my bikes, none stayed stock. It's just one guys opinion. It doesn't matter what you ride, as long as you ride>

Ya, i hear errr read that. I still have the SH and love it til this day, but some dipshit pulled out in front of me for a collision and fucked up the bike a bit. So now I face repairing it after not riding it for 5 years, or get the CBR without waiting and which I've eyeballed for a long long time now.

I feel the same as CarryDG.....I'm not as senior as he is...But I have had a few bikes myself..GSXR 1100 and currently own a 2011 Triumph Speed Triple, which I like, but just does not have the character of the VTR 1000. I purchased the Superhawk for the track, because I did not want to drop the Triumph, and end up paying over $2000 to fix it...so I got a 2004 VTR 1000 for cheap money (about $2100) and was going to use this for Track Days. I loved the bike so much, I am selling the Speed Triple, and purchased a dropped 2001 VTR for $800 for the Track which I stripped down, and have been rebuilding it. You can see my progress under Modifications and Performance.
I have just recently had a track day at Palmer and my Black Hawk was excellent. Basically stock but with a K&N filter that came with the bike. I hope you get what you feel is right...and a different bike is always more exciting....do you want to buy a Speed Triple?

The cbr is much too leaned over for me. If you haven't ridden a bike with those ergo's, try it before you buy. If it doesn't bother you, have a go. I4's just don't do it for me either. And do careful research. Certain year CBR1k's are known as oil burners. We've had issues with a few of 'em at the shop. I think 09ish.

Well I still havent found my SH, but I've just come across a 2003 RC51 with 23k miles. Any suggestions on that as my replacement??

or actually now I've just found a 3 year younger 2006 Yamaha YZF R1 with actually less miles at 20k

Sure the miles differentiate by how they were ridden, but still gives some idea

To wrap it all up, I looked a few months and found a solid 2007 cBR1000FT immaculate condition. Looks pristine. I feel like I bought a brand new bike at fraction of cost. This ***** is a screaming rocket. $5400

Nice job! What a beautiful bike. Yeah I don't think you can get a much nicer bike for that much.

Thx. But wow good Lord this thing is FAST. So much power. Even in 6th gear with a turn off the wrist it'll pick up speed so fast. I saw the numbers in comparison, but the feel of the torque compared to the bird is much more noticable, which I didn't think would be compared to the v twin. Def more than a step up. Worth the money...
But honestly, much more power than needed. The bird aka Superhawk seems to have just the right amount for enjoyable rides. Even with a passenger. I'm 6' 195±

Hopefully it doesn't guzzle motor oil like a bunch of them do.

Hey whatthefnck, you hit the report post button instead of quoting a reply. Was that on purpose or mistake? I don't see the post as offensive.

lol I'm sorry bud, Wolverine, that was a total accident. so what happened exactly? did it penalize or lock you up somehow? how did you get notified it was "reported"? haha sorry it took so long for me to get to this. I wonder how that happened, I'm trying to retrace my steps. Regardless, you've been nothing but helpful, and anything else that someone may have taken offense to is typically just shrugged off or laughed off by myself. i have thick skin, hence, nothing to report. what I see is that I "liked" something you commented.

It was the red superhawk comment. All good, we just get notified that someone reported a post so we can investigate. No harm no foul.

I believe the oil burners are the 08+ engines (and this mostly the very fist ones); I can't recall any negative comments about the first Gen CBR engines

yes this 07 was the last solid year with the kinks worked out. if I didnt know any better, I'd think I knew what I was doing. but I just got lucky. so I have extra stuff SuperHawk related. .. .. .. the front and side fairings, the aftermarket lower fairing, as i pictures, some kind of power commander, few other things.

*** Although note to add, according to wikipedia the 06-07's are the worst about fuel consumption being quite thirsty with about 30± mpg whilst the other years break 40

Just a status report on the situation. Have had the cbr for quite some time now with miles on it. Frkn love it. I often wonder which I like better and I can't decide. The SH has plenty of reasons to choose it, but the power of the cbr just can't deny, it pulls so well with those 50+ extra hp, and benefit of fuel injection. And the torque is pretty much equivalent. To do it again, **** I dunno, prob the cbr for power reasons. The SH for nostalgic reasons. And the SH was great with a passenger. None yet on cbr. Insurance def cheaper with SH. But I've yet to get it for cbr, so basically saved about 8 months worth. And for appearance, I totally lived the look of the SH with stock pipes.

Good to hear your relationship has grown with the See Bee Arghhhh. I still find I-4's lacking at 2-3-4..k RPM which drives me nuts. I don't want to wait for my powa! Every other aspect, well the new stuff is light years ahead.
I need to get my Super back together. It's been down and out since Oct 1.
