Steering Stem OD

Long shot, but does anyone know the OD of the Superhawk steering stem where it presses into the bottom triple tree? I'd rather not take mine apart to find out. Thanks in advance.

Do you want with or without bearing race in ?

UCF Eric 09-29-2014 03:54 PM

I'll take both if you have it.

55mm straight to the frame. Bearing race is too far into the frame, I can get caliper in there. Also, from cylindrical to roller type bearings, the race is different. So, measurement becomes useless.

That's seems awfully large for a steering stem diameter. I thought it would be closer to 28mm or so.

OEM Steering stem OD
Top 26mm
Bottom 30mm

OEM bearing race OD

Top 47mm
Bottom 55mm

Thanks Erik for clearing that up. I really misread his post.

I will now curl up in a corner, and kick myself...;O)

I was about to say the ST is torn apart getting new stem bearings (and now a new stem since the old stems threads tore off when removing the stearing head nut.. damn 25 year old bikes that have never had any maintenence done) and uses the same bearings as the VTR so I'd get a measurement for you, but looks like I was beat to the punch
