I had over 72,000 miles on my '78 CX500 when I sold it in '86. I'd bought it with 19,000 on it five years earlier.

Mine( test bike ) was also stolen in 2005 and the rider died riding it if that says anything. Cops recovered it and charged me 450 bucks to pick it up from them mangled. They had wrecked it several times and sprayed white paint from a can over the red with out even masking. I wanted to throw up when i got a look at it the 1st time. Same title, lovingly hand rebuilt bodywork on both sides, and repaired my two brothers can that was smashed and ground down and entire inch at the flange. Tank got fixed, and I painted it myself (my 1st bike job ) with some honda odyssey ("oddity") minivan color.

( moral is severely mangled honda parts can be reworked and restored amazingly)

I will run this engine until something snaps or it smokes.
Somewhere around 100,000 I estimate.
Split cases, new bearings(german), New shift forks and idler gears, Balance and weld crank, And put back together stock with maybe a regrind(a tad more duration) to the cams.
Polish and anodize the cases and cylinder parts while its apart.
(red anodized, or Gold)
balanced with new bearings and any gears that were worn they humm smoother than new.

LoL, $2,500 for that? Seems kinda high considering the miles.

We should start a mileage thread!

I think I'm at 32,000. Cut me some slack though, I put 12K on it in 10 months of ownership. Before that she had an easy life.

I'm at about 22000. Bought it in July last year with 10500. Unfortunately most of those are commute miles, not the fun stuff.

Changed the CCT & 2 valves @ 67k miles & so far she's still keeps on going with no power loss whatsoever; regular oil change & gentle handling (as oppose to manhandling) helps, I suppose

Costly sacrifices to the gods arent required if you convert to Amsoil.
Confess your sins and get annointed with the holy oil.
It will take you over and convert you.
It will save you like nothing can... (your motor actually)
Once you have tried black, you won't ever... uhh err

I had my first 98 VTR for 35K miles, the next owners put another 30K on it (no chain tensioner updates), thats after a multitude of crashes and track days, lulZ!

Wow, my 2003 Superhawk is an extreme newbie then. I just broke 3,800 original miles last weekend.

That's awsome!! It's nice to see that these bikes have incredible longevity.

As for the CCT's, I really don't know what to do. I can totally see where everyone is coming from and how it's a good idea to change them but on the other hand my bike is basically new...... Plus, just as many people have survived hundred of thoudands of miles on the original ones.

Just because they look original don't mean they are, some people choose to replace them with oem ones. I would be surprised if there was many hawks at that mileage with the "origninal ones" the stock cct does have a replacement interval.

Ok, fair enough but the point I was trying to make is that I don't REALLY need to replace mine for quite sometime.

There's a dude on another forum that has an 04 CBR600F4i with over 150k. My butt hurts thinking about that.
