saying goodbye
original micapeak/runlevelzero lister (from 1998 on) says "take it easy fellas.
My VTR '98 #0631 got deered, and today I said goodbye for good: I made the trip up to San rafael today, to pay off the rapacious tow truck CS's and to sell Mr. VTR to the motorcycles-go-to-heaven salvage guy. ( a very nice guy, by the way) I took some close up pictures and posted them here: http://www.colevalley.net/five_twenty http://www.colevalley.net/vtr_last_look/ http://www.colevalley.net/vtr_deer I was very sad to let this guy go, it has been the most fun of any bike I have ever owned, and considering I have had a fkcing lot of these guys, that means a lot. If you ever want to own a bike with some personality, that will never let you down, get a VTR. They are well worth the trouble of having a 125 mile tank range...): Bye Mr. VTR. It was always a pleasure. for all you listers: wear all your gear, all the time!!! Jim S YZF R1 R100RS NX250 ****R.I.P.**** R.I.P.***VTR1000***R.I.P. |
Well I hope you are all right, and I certainly hope you got to eat Bambi....that would be an expensive meal, and not the easiest way to take down a deer.....
Amazing photos.... |
Sorry about the crash! But I'm glad you're ok enough to post up. Looks like your gear did its job.
Is it in bad taste to ask the condition of the VTR-seat?? :D |
Mr. Stinnett,
It's been a pleasure reading your posts and having you as part of the VTR community for all these years. I think I've known you since '98 when the first runlevelzero.net and sport-twin email lists were up. It's a shame we never met in person. I think we'd have gotten along great. Being on different coasts though.... I think you probably had the highest mileage S'Hawk out there, and I mean in the WORLD! You will be missed. Stop by every now and then. And remember, just because you have a few other bikes doesn't mean you can't buy another VTR. In your words, it has been the most fun of any bike you've ever owned. Keep that in mind. ;) Good luck in all your adventures. Ride safe! |
Good to read your ok. How fast were you going when you hit the deer?

Hope you're okay!

Very sad news indeed, as Hawkrider said you could always get another. They are a great bang for the buck,(oops sorry bad choice of wording), right now as you can pick them up pretty cheap. Glad you came out o.k.

The more miles I put on mine the more I seem to enjoy it, and after swapping bikes with my buddy this weekend 600RR Im certain I got the correct bike for my wants... that thing seemed like a dawg until around 9500rpm then it would finally start pulling. F that I like my big twin thank you.

glad your ok, bikes can be replaced while people cannot! I agree with your statement of always wearing your protective gear - you never know what can happen in an instant.

This sucks. I killed one too earlier this year with my car, about a grand worth of damage. I hate deer.
