Santa Fe to Fairbanks and back

Hi, y'all. I took a little road trip this summer, and now that winter's here and the bike's in pieces in the garage, I (belatedly) thought I should share some pictures, since they star a certain pair of wheels you might be familiar with...

See if you can spot where my crappy aftermarket R/R blew!

Happy to answer any questions for anyone considering a trip like this... and if you're not considering it, consider it. It's worth it.

Very cool! Was it a solo trip? And how long were you gone?

Thanks for sharing the photos. :D

Dood where's the RR?

Go to STN or ADV sites to view how to do a RR

:lame:

The tire was the best picture. Looks like a very painful journey to some of the most beautiful places on earth. Nicely done!

Yep, solo trip; it was about 22 days or so, averaging between 400-700 miles per day, depending on weather. Lots of other bikes doing the same journey, but almost entirely Harleys, BMWs or Gold Wings. I think I saw maybe two other sport bikes during the entire trip, which made for fun conversation at pit stops with other riders. "Wrong tool for the job" became one of my go-to phrases...

That must have taken some serious endurance! I don't think I've ridden my SuperHawk more than 100 miles so far in a single outing.

I would love to get out and do a long trip one of these days, but maybe not quite that long. A leisurely jaunt up the California coast is probably more my speed.

p.s. The tool can't be all wrong if it got the job done! :)
