rode a zx12....

i believe its an 02, power commander regear and some other goodies. words cant describe the smile it put on my face, the way my legs shook for 10 minutes after is the best description i can say about it. we were out tonite and i asked the owner to take my bike for a rip so i could hear it as ive never heard it, and i like its sounds, but it was nothing compared to the anger of the 12. 30 kph to 200 kph comes in just seconds at part throttle. this thing hit 200 faster than id hit 120, kph of course. just unreal. cant say enough good things about it :D

RWhisen 08-13-2010 05:02 AM

Does your hawk know you were being unfaithful to her? Is a one time thing or do plan to see her again? Do you love her?

skoshere 08-13-2010 05:24 AM

what is this KPH you speak of!!!! I am only familiar with U.S. customary system!

i rode a ZX12R and goes like a bat out of hell.

uchi 08-13-2010 07:11 AM

lol, 200 kph = 120 mph :)

yes she was there, she said its ok as long as i wear my helmet, lol.

makes me really wonder what my next bike is gonna be. thts entirely too much bike but man id rather have too much power than not enough :D

She doesn't want to get infected which is why she insists on protection.

just imagine what a zx14 feels like.

swaptrex 08-13-2010 09:54 AM

^What he said... I was riding next to a zx-10 the other day and that even surprised me.

+1 Got to ride my buddy's 08 and might have left a wet spot on the seat! I was surprised that the riding position felt a little more comfortable than aggressive. I think they only offer life insurance for it though :p.

uchi 08-13-2010 03:29 PM

His bike was very comfortable aswell. It just felt right when I rode it. Can't describe it but it felt like it was made for me. Damn things aren't cheap though.

Zx 14 must be a monster. Id have to invest in adult depends if I owned one lol

autoteach 08-13-2010 04:37 PM

s1000rr bmw? I am sure that it would blow our minds. I actually passed on a cbr1000rr and duc 916 test ride. And I took out a gsxr 750 (05ish) and never topped 40mph. I just dont am not that excited to scare myself.

alwayshonda 08-13-2010 05:20 PM

Ha ha. I know what you mean. I don't think I ever got to full throttle. I'm a sissy.

nuhawk 08-13-2010 05:51 PM

Bill, I think that's why the GSXR 750 is all the rage with performance riders. It's the perfect match of power and agility. These things have all the power of the Superhawk, the advantage of fi mapping and are a twinkie in terms of weight. It will be my next bike.

^^ Beat you to it!!

i just picked up an 08 gsxr 750...

the gsxr 750 is like a Samurai Katana where as the VTR is a midevil longsword...more precise, deadlier.

Everything that bike does is like a bolt action rifle....if you miss a gear in that bike you need to have your head examined.....Cornering is like mind reading....its effortless and precise. I wont even mention the brakes...makes my F4i front end upgrade a joke!

But!! the VTR is a hooligan compared the GSXR750....stock gearing and Timing Retard in first 3 gears means no crazy power wheelies....thing just digs in and GOES! 86MPH in first gear. where as you cannot go full throttle in first gear on the VTR without staring at the pretty sky!

I wish I hadn't read this thread. Looking around at the season ending sales leads to buying more toys. Just saw a couple of new (2009 leftover) Yamaha R1's not too far from me at $8.5K before taxes. Lots of leftover bikes just begging to be tried.

Anyone tried one of the newer R1's?

swaptrex 08-18-2010 04:07 PM

I think an R1 will be my next lady..

Screw all of that R1, GSXR buisness. 'Prilla RSV4 FTW

Blue is RSV4 and red is R1.

You ever been on one of those? I have... I really, really did want to like it... The engine is fantastic... The handling is beyond your wildest dreams...

But the fricking thing is the size of a 125... I looked like a trained gorilla on that thing... 15 minutes tops and then I needed a chiropractor....

Dan Cronin 08-19-2010 06:03 PM

I haven't rode either one. Sat on both. The R1 felt like a sport tourer compared to the RSV4. The Aprila was tiny. Felt smaller than a 600RR. Power wise, the graphs don't seem to show enough difference that I'd be able to tell. I suspect a exhaust upgrade would help the R1 a bit.
I'd take either one for sure.

Dan Cronin 08-19-2010 06:12 PM

Looking at those graphs makes you laugh when you hear people say they had to have a v-twin for the torque. Don't get me wrong I love my SH but the numbers in that graph don't lie. I suspect its more a case that people get a bit freaked out by the power those bikes make and do their best to stay out of the throttle.

You do know the R1 being tested has the crossplane crankshaft. That is the reason for the torque numbers.

Unless you're laughing about the disparity in horsepower. That's different.

Exactly my point. There's still plenty of torque but a bit further up the rev range. Having been spooked by that top end rush I'm betting they play it safe and keep below the sweet part of the power band. They convince themself the bike is soft on the bottom.

uchi 08-23-2010 06:47 PM

just an update. i got to ride it again. this time for about a half hour while my buddy rode my bike to see how she felt after our last carb adjustments. well lets put it this way. his 12 does something like 100 mph in first gear. i was lugging her around at about 45 mph in third and he was in second on my bike, he snapped the throttle, i rolled on just a little over half throttle and walked my own bike hard. it was sad, i couldnt believe how hard this monster pulled. :)

falcondrvr 08-24-2010 01:55 PM

funny cause a buddy of mine also had a zx12 and we used to switch up once in awhile... till he threw the 12 into the woods along with himself. Now he's got a 14. It's nice but I'll take the 12 as it handles a bit better than the 14. 14 does have some of the nicest stock brakes I've ever used though.

uchi 08-24-2010 02:17 PM

Nice. That 14 must be a rocket.

falcondrvr 08-25-2010 03:48 AM

It is. It's very refined also. More a sport touring bike than a sportbike.

uchi 08-25-2010 04:29 AM

I found the 12 to be really stable at higher speeds extremely smooth aswell. A bit on the heavy side but that's expected with a bike its size. But quite comfortable to ride

Old Yeller 08-25-2010 05:00 AM

If you don't quit talking like this, we're going to ban you from your super hawk! ;)

uchi 08-25-2010 05:51 AM

Haha its bad I know. Maybe I'm just getting old lol
