Rejetted stock 2005 today.
I messed with the carbs a little today on my 2005 VTR 1000.
I did not replace any jets just moved my needles up .020 with shims. I did block of the pair valves while I was in there. I followed my friends advice because he been around the block a few times. I did not sync the carbs yet because it only has 400 miles on it and also I am waiting for a fitting from Honda. My bike is totally stock and it runs sweet now. The carb sensor is riveted on so there is no adjustment that I can see. The carb seems just perfect and I will not have to pull them again with this setup. It warms up quick and is way smoother. Here is Dan's website and if you need info he really knows his stuff. PS- he told me it takes 8 hours to tune up a new VFR 800 I glad I went with the VTR. :D http://www.motordoctor.net/html/message_board.html |
Re: Rejetted stock 2005 today.
I thought I would add my mileage has went up to 45 mpg on mostly
freeway. I only have 500 miles on the bike so it should get better. 8) I wonder what the fuel injected SV1000 gets???? |
My 2005 SV1000s doesn't get as good MPG as my SuperHawk.
SV get maybe 2-5 MPG less that the shawk. but the larger tank on the SV more than makes up the differance. Fuel range is 20-30 miles greater on the SV. Most I ever put in the shawk was 3.9 gal SV is almost 4.5 gal. ~Jeffers |
