question......
I am new to the superhawk / sportbike world.
Want to learn to wheelie my bike , but I do not wish to drop it. Saw on e-bay a vidio on wheelies on a vtr. Has anyone seen this ? I am sure many of the vet's , are rolling laughing at this squidish request, however , money is tight in this household so........ Any serious information is very much appriciated , and I humble myself to the jokesters that want to chime in. Thanks L-man out:???: |
Wheelie
Check out this site and see if it helps. Maybe get some input from some of you vets out there.

heard about a wheelie bar very similar to a small antenna that comes off the swingarm and when it gets bent up to far it shuts the motor power . cant remember the sight but try a search?

Wheelies with a Superhawk are pretty easy. You should be able to hoist it up with only a little effort.
From a dead stop - Revs up, clutch out. Bring up the revs a little more each time. While in motion (1st or 2nd gear) - Roll off throttle, pull clutch in, gas up, clutch out. You may need to "bounce" the handlebars to get a little more lift. With very little practice, I was bringing up 1-foot wheelies. Not very exciting stuff, but I feel safer with two wheels on the ground. ;) |
I don't know if this is an option for you or not but if you want to learn how to wheelie find a dirt bike! The only way to learn is practice and the only way to practice is to do it and probably fall a few times.:???: Just my opinion but pavement hurts!!

Really if you want to do it just get rolling 1st gear about 2500-3500 rpm let off and whack the throttle, the bike will do the rest.

In the fall and spring when the air is clean and cool i can get mine to pull a third gear wheelie with a little clutch slip running arounf 5.5-6 k rpm, but in the summer she aint going solo in third unless you shift into third while on a 2nd gear wheelie. For me 2nd gear is the best gear to wheelie in, just a slight slip of the clutch running around 5k and the front is skyward. A good suggestion is if you plan to do a lot of these i would upgrade the shitty ball type bearings in the triple tree with some goos aftermarker roller bearings. |

hummmm I don't ever recall having to roll off and back on hard to get the SuperChicked to go solo.
