Pulled over TWICE in four days!!

I was stopped by a La. State Trooper Wednesday night....he thought I was running at over a hundred miles an hour......nope wasn't me....he took off and stopped the van that had just about passed me on the interstate before the blue lights were flashing!! Whew!! And it really wasn't me!!

Today I was stopped and told that I was disrespecting an officer by riding 45 MPH in a 40 MPH zone (right beside the cop) and had pulled away from a stoplight with excessive display of power!! He was very pissed off!! I was cool until he said that....I said come on dude! I wasn't doing any of that.....he said explain it to the judge.....he checked my record....clean as a whistle.....I told him my best friend is a Shreveport Cop....my Brother-in Law is a Bossier cop....I have all the respect in the world for ya'll.....I told him that I certainly speed from time to time, but I certainly had better sense than to do it right in front of him!! He ended up letting me go.....I must be living right and GOD IS GOOD!!

Blue Ridge Boy Oct 21, 2007 08:01 PM

Lucky lucky lucky....but try FOUR times in 7 HOURS!!! hahahaha!
I went on a ride today with a few buddies (Busa, BMW Rockster, & a Triumph)
First: North Carolina ; 12:35 pm ; No Ticket ; Me and Kevin (Busa) are messing around weaving and according to the cop..."looked wasted!"
Second: North Carolina ; 12:55 pm ; No Ticket ; Me and Kevin are messing around once again pulling wheelies...let off because we were very nice and because cop happened to own a Busa himself and "understood" the need. :P
Third: South Carolina ; 4:10 pm ; No Ticket ; A red R1 blows past us and cop pulls me over because he thought I was the R1 (never been mistaken for that before :P )....took a lot of convincing that I wasn't the guy.
Fourth: North Carolina ; 7:00 pm ; No Ticket ; Cop thinks that my plate is improperly illuminated...asshole.

superbling Oct 21, 2007 09:21 PM

In my young stupid daze, I got two speeding tickets in a car within 43 minutes of each other; both from Texas DPS. OUCH!

Congrats for talking your way out of both of them; especially the second one. I also got two tickets in one month on Superbling; one of which was very lame but didn't get out of the other one either. Double OUCH!!

midijunky Oct 21, 2007 10:11 PM

when I still had my rx7 I got 3 tickets in about an hour in 3 different stops by the same officer. oops

Randman Oct 22, 2007 05:36 AM

Ticket free since 93' LOL..going 22 in a 20 Eek on a Military base, there were 8 MP's and one radar, they had folks lined up, Zero Tolerance that day...the ticket pricing had just changed that day... I received my road usage coupon at 12:09 pm so it cost me $75...If I had been zapped at 11:59 or earlier, would have only been $15....Fuggers!! LOL...At least it didn't go on my record....

dont delude yourself, freedom is an illusion ;)

it's all smoke and mirrors.

VoodooDog Oct 22, 2007 12:43 PM

i must say that sometimes it's embarrassing to have to show my badge if i get stopped to get treated right from some of my less than professional FOP brothers and sisters. we're trained to think that if we catch a biker doing 10 over the limit we just missed him doing 30 over.

still, we're not all bad...

Duck007 Oct 22, 2007 02:41 PM

Got my first one on the bike about 2 weeks ago. Cop was parked on the other side of the highway when I crested a hill. I think he appreciated that I pulled over and was waiting for him by the time he crossed the median....already had the seat off and my insurance out when he pulled up. He said he started clocking me at 74 but I was braking when I saw him and he locked me at 69 in a 50. He ended up giving me a ticket for 10 mph over, $88. I told him I try to put some distance between myself and the cars whenever possible.....whatever....no biggie. I didn't buy the 'hawk to do the speed limit. I would have bought a cruiser if I wanted to do that.

Obviously it's easy to generalize so I apologize. My experience with law enforcement has been refreshing. I think having a little salt and pepper under the helmet helps. Courtesy and having your papers in order is important. You're out there having fun and he's at the office.

I will add, in all fairness to everyone, that none of these guys didn't get out of their cruiser like they were going to hammer it to another teenager being irresponsible on a motorcycle.

In some measure, aggressive driving is a survival skill.

I used this tact with a DPS trooper that pulled me over. He didn't agree only saying, "you were both speeding - you were faster." Hell ya! Driving away from some asshole in Buick. Yo - if you look like your sitting in lawn furniture while you're driving there is something mechanically wrong with the picture. He checked my documents, called home, we shook hands and wished each other well.

The other time was right after I changed the front sprocket to 15T. Sunday morning, big, wide 4-lane and I'm feeling the gears coming over the hill only to be face on the a local city cop. He drove through the median to stop me. I told him I had just changed the gearing on the bike and I was out feeling it out. He reminded me that I shouldn't do my testing on the public roadways, called home and returned my documents.

I see both sides because I have friends and clients on both sides of the badge. The guys that wear the badge and wear it proudly work a helluva lot harder than those that are dick to everybody.

Cool! We've got at least two LEOs on the forum. Anyone others please chime in!

superhawk22 Oct 22, 2007 07:19 PM

I HAD no tickets for about 7 years until last month when I got 2 tickets,(1st one for 67 in a 35 which was BS because it was actually a 45 and then 83 in a 45!), and get this it was the same F'N guy!! I stupidly open a mouth about the 1st one and he got a wild hair up his butt saying I was questioning his honor and that he could add more charges and blah blah blah. I said you know I was just bringing it to your attention because everyone can make a mistake, his response, "I don't make mistakes.....ever!!" rrrright. Worse part is since I've been doing track days I usually keep it to about 10mph over the limit but these 2 times I was in a hurry. 1st I was trying to make it home before a storm,(which I didn't and got soaked waiting for the ticket), and the second I was late for work. Oh and they treated me like a murder suspect, they slid the car in front of me lighting up the tires as his partner jumped out and grabed my key out of my ignition. The second one the 2 of them walked out in the middle of the road, a newb would've killed them and him/herself in the process!!

Condor Oct 22, 2007 07:21 PM

im just giving you shit. i work dope, so i dont do much ticket writing. i hate traffic nazis too....

Hmmm, I wonder if that could be considered illegal search and seizure?

IzakGt Oct 22, 2007 08:40 PM

Well all I can say is stay OUT of the system.... ONCE you are stuck in the system it almost doesn't even matter what happened and whose fault it was... I NEVER EVER had a problem with an officer in my LIFE...... my Brother was a gang unit detective of the APD. That didn't help anything either nothing helps when you are in the wrong place at the wrong time... WHY WOULD I EVER disrespect an officer, i wasn't raised that way?!!?!?! WELL I was riding with a group of guys and i wasn't even the lead bike... BUT THAT DOESN'T EVEN MATTER EITHER! There was a total of 5 of us... lead bike was red followed by a black bike followed by *me* on a *red* bike then two black bikes behind myself... As I came around a blind turn i passed an officer who ALREADY HAD his lights on.... OKAY we had JUST BEGAN on that road....the speed limit stated 40mphs.... ALONG with being arrested the officer stated in the police report that we were racing on that narrow road..... OKAY here's the best part........... On the citation it is stated that i was doing 45 mph yessss FORTY FIVE freaking miles per hour!!! WOW (must have been racing RC cars).......... okay how did it all play out? well lets flash back for a second... when the other two bikes behind me passed the officer the officer looped his car around and began to follow us... he TURNED OFF HIS LIGHTS..... and followed us for about a mile..... I continued to follow the lead bike and we went down a road and pulled off to the side we turned off all *FOUR* motorcycles took off all of our helmets and asked each other what the heck happened what went on why did he turn around then turn his lights OFF!??? well we then heard our last buddy on his gsxr coming around a corner.... then we heard his motor shut off...... I THOUGHT to myself is he lost??........ well i decided that i would go back to look for him and a friend on a black motorcycle followed my lead, the OTHER TWO BIKES which were RED AND BLACK STAYED BACK(the smart thing)....... we came upon him receiving a citation (at that time i never once thought about running from the officer) and the officer began to quickly walk to me and the black motorcycle..... he told me to pull off the road and then told the black motorcycle to GO HOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WTF. He yelled at me to get off the road and into some dirt which had a small drop off from the paved road to the dirt i couldn't just pop on down the drop off like the speed of light that he wanted me to, so he began to yell louder to turn my bike off......by then with the yelling at me YES i will admit i was panicked he grabbed a hold of the windscreen and yelled some more at me and then began to reach for a weapon... and at that point i froze still i couldn't believe this man felt he even needed to pull a weapon out on me.... okay the reason i couldn't react so fast like he wished me to do was that he was yelling to shut the bike off and it was still in gear so i had the clutch in and being panicked from the yelling and then seeing him reach for the a weapon my mind could not process all that he wanted me to do with out releasing the clutch and putting it into neutral and all that good junk i was just overwhelmed.. again i just froze in my place i know duh all i had to do was just hit the kill switch but it never registered......... well he stopped from reaching for his weapon to reaching for my key and turned off my motorcycle himself. Again NEVER EVER in my LIFE have i ever had that much problem with ONE officer i couldn't even get the kick stand down the first time like and idiot my nerves were just shot to hell in a hand basket. WHAT I FEEL is that because i looked similar to the RED LEAD BIKE and STUPIDLY CAME BACK TO THE SCENE FOLLOWED BY A BLACK motorcycle the officer felt he had the right guy.... well noooooooo i did not snitch on my friends that were just around the corner and i feel that i took the fall for the lead bike... what a bee-otch!! Okay for an ULTIMATE HIT ME WHILE I'M DOWN once again in the police right up it states that the only way the officer which was OH BOY a 17 year vet of the travis county police got ME to stop was that he (get this) STOOD IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD AND PRESENTED HIS GOV. ISSUED TASER AT ME. That is along the lines of "no babe i'm not talking to another guy" yet the text msgs. prove other wise... All i can say is no wonder people have no respect for lying officers... you know i use to be one of the people that thought oh come on that suspect is blowing it out of proportion that officer wouldn't make crap up like the supspect says he did, he has his integrity to protect...... okay i officially no longer think that way.............. ALL I CAN SAY ISSSSS the SYSTEM IS SSSSSSSSO WHACK... after having to get a lawyer and all that garbage..... because the lawyer felt it was in my best interest to plead guilty to a misdemeanor evading arrest rather than going to trail by jury and POSSIBLY LOSING that trial and being charged with a full FELONY evading arrest i took his advice and chose to plead guilty to a misdemeanor(it was my word against the officers word. who are they going to believe) Now i have 100 CSR hours court fines probation officer fines 2 yrs probation... LAWYER FEES i have pretty much lost all respect for the law system. YES i still respect the people for what they do and how they put their lives on the line for US (when it is Just)..... AND YES i am SURE there are good ones out there on the force that are not F***ing squirrels,(i HATE SQUIRRELS they are almost as bad as tree hugging hippies if not on the same field) but from now own they've all lost my respect and if i get pulled over for anything ever in the future, yes SURE i am GOING to RESPECT THE PERSON but i WILL NOT TRUST THEM. I know all of yall reading this are going to have yalls OWN opinions whether its good or bad stupid or smart..... I FLAT OUT DON'T CARE. I'm not trying to prove my innocence to anyone or for that matter make yall believe my side of the story and not hear the other side! I merely telling my story. AGAIN I COULD CARE LESS!!!! And to some degree NO i am NOT completely innocent. YA I HAVE DONE WEELIES I HAVE GONE OVER THE SPEED LIMIT I HAVE DONE BURN OUTS I HAVE ACTED STUPID ON MY SH, (now don't get me wrong i'm no saint but i'm defiantly no devil) but that day i did no wrong, except being in the WRONG PLACE AT THE WRONG TIME,,,, lesson learned......................... well the Texas law system is horrible and DO NOT GET CAUGHT UP IN THE SYSTEM... further more apparently when the person coined the phrase that life isn't always fair nailed it squarely on the head.... all you can do IS hold your head up and take it with stride...... what more CAN you do.... but move on..... just be careful out there and don't get that mind set ohhhhhhh i'll just run from them......... you know what i didn't even RUN i SHOWED UP AT HIS FEET yet to the court system, i ran.....take my miss hap. as lesson and just don't give them that option. and if it gets that far and you are being arrested just remember DO NOT speak don't talk don't do nothing. YES SIR NO SIR take me to jail because if the cuffs are on you are going anyways so just keep your mouth SHUT and thats it! don't let THEM incriminate yourself for you....

swordfish Oct 23, 2007 12:30 PM

can you blame us?

I've gotten pulled over 4 times on the bike. only one ticket and that was for doing 50 in a 45. gay. I respect cops in general. and I'll kiss ass in front of them. but as far as traffic cops go, if they aren't helping me in some way, then they can all just die of siphyllis for all I care. in fact I'd like to watch. nazi death camps are too good for these animals. they serve absolutely no purpose, except to harrass the public and endanger us all. cops that come when you call: great. cops that bust actual criminals: wonderfull. cops that write tickets: I hope you all die in flames on the road you claim to "regulate" and I hope I get to be there. I'll bring marshmellows.

I kind of agree... well, except for the part about the siphyllis... oh, and the death camps... and flames... and especially the marshmallows.

Igmortis Oct 24, 2007 03:14 PM

Wow.....What responses from everyone.....I enjoyed reading them all.....I can tell ya'll at 41 years old....I'm not running....I will be respectful no matter what....It has always paid off for me. I have been stopped many times when I DID deserve to be given a ticket and none were written. We have to realize they do have a job to do and it sometimes conflicts with our riding habits! Yes, this guy was an asshole with all the screaming and stuff, but in the end he did the right thing....I figure maybe his wife just gave him a ration of crap or maybe something else pissed him off before he pulled me over. I would have gone to court and pled my case if he had written me up and let the chips fall where they may. It's definately not wise to argue with them on the side of the road! Both my best friend and my brother-in-law describe what the do as when we put on the uniform we basically put a bullseye on our chest....think about that....kinda scarry!!

Ig

lhoward1134 Oct 24, 2007 03:56 PM

Pulled off the interstate and did a wheelie after I got going straight. When I got the the red light, I watched the cars behind me stop, then started watching cars go by through the intersection. Next thing I know, there's a cop standing next to me. He tells me to shut off the bike and get off. I do. He goes through this whole story about how he had arrested a kid the day before for doing what I did. I got scared. I was new to the area and didn't have anyone to bail me out of jail. After going on for about a minute more on how he could arrest me and impound my bike, he tells me to be careful and not do that again. Finally, he follows that up with a "By the way, I have a CBR600 and I've been trying to figure that out. How'd you do that?" When he left, I was half relieved and half pissed. About the only time I've been lucky with the cops.

Condor Oct 25, 2007 10:14 PM

Once upon a time when my job was as a patrol officer... let me tell you.... its exactly that: a job. i told myself "i am not writing people for traffic, because i do stupid shit too"...and you get told its officer discretion, but they do come down on you when you don't write. especially if you work with some tattletale, tool, or ass-snarf that will run and snitch you out for not citing on things they deem to be "more serious". I was told on before because i didn't write one guy for wheelies, but i wrote someone else. they pulled me into the office and asked my why i wrote one and not the other (these are two separate instances). I told them "the one i wrote did not appear to be in control of the bike and was very erratic, but the other guy was smooth and controlled". your administration does not like hearing that.

its like any other job...sometimes you have to do things you don't want to. but i can tell you that arguing with the officer will almost gaurauntee you a citation...and even if you're polite and you still get a citation, if you had argued, you may have gotten a few more (probably for the tag light you didn't know was burned out, or tire requirements, or tint violation...etc.) that you hadnt even considered.

i really have never understood why it is so popular to hate police...like its a cool thing to say "fuck cops" (perhaps some romantic or literal notion of "freedom", but freedom does not equal "hey, im in america, dammit, and im an american... and i can do whatever i want, and if i want to drive 90 miles per hour through a school zone, then dammit, i will." then get stopped by the cops and call them a fascist)
---because the same people that say that are the same people that call 911 when their McDonald's order gets fucked up. and complain at you for not getting there fast enough. i was always taught that if you fuck up say, "i fucked up" then take what's coming to you. (this is not to say that laws should not be challenged. there are some stupid laws out there)

and another word of advice...if you belong to a pre-paid legal service, KEEP THAT SHIT TO YOURSELF. handing a cop one of those cards is like saying "fuck you. youre afraid of lawyers. i DARE you to write me a ticket". some guy that i had absolutely no intention of writing (it matched a BOLO vehicle description, but was not the vehicle) handed me that shit and told me, in a smug manner, "i have a lawyer." the next thing i said to him was "press hard, you're making 5 copies". i've had a few more since, and every officer i have talked to agrees with me and says that it seems like a veiled threat. the last guy that told me "i have a lawyer", and held his card out with his license and acted like i was wasting his time. i told him "if that card touches my hand you're getting a citation. you're getting two. don't threaten me." he just kinda hung his head and put it back in his wallet.....smart move.

not that im the best or smartest LEO ever,, but i like to think im pretty fair. i have a college education. i have experience... when i was working patrol i really did try to give people the benefit of the doubt, as did most of my compatriots. but, when you start seeing fatality motor vehicle accidents that stemmed from the smallest, most trivial traffic violation, you start writing citations, hoping to gain what we call "voluntary compliance". because believe it or not, we don't like seeing decapitated children and people that end up on the end of the coroner's paint scraper. people get pissed when they get a ticket but they don't think "what if?" they think "nothing happened, but i still got a ticket. that cops a prick". like i said, I hate traffic nazis, but there is a line.

All this being said, Yes, i will be the first to admit that there are some power tripping/stupid ass/no-common-sense-having police officers practicing their craft. rest assured, their co-workers hate them just as much as you do. there's a difference between the 'authoritative" vibe and the "I got swirlies and my milk money taken in high school" vibe. We (cops) know that these people are working, and we always work hard to get them off the road.

ALSO...INFORM YOURSELF... I dont know how it is in other states, but in the state of Georgia, for instance, you cannot be stopped for speeding unless you are traveling more than 10 miles over the speed limit. this includes laser, pacing, and radar (Now state patrol can pull you for ANY amount over, but they are the only ones). so, if you get pulled for doing 55 in a 50, this officer WILL have problems when it goes to court. read up on the shit. if you contact an officer and you know theyre wrong, let them make the mistake. then embarass them in court.

SORRY FOR MY INCOHERENT DISJOINTED RANT. God bless you all, and ride safe!
