Anyone here ever use a powerwasher to clean their bike?

On occasion i have stopped by the local car wash to blast off road grit and grime after getting caught out on a long wet road ride.

I regulary wash the entire bike, cluster gauges and all.

Never had and issue, these things are designed for weather. Now i wouldn't take a high pressure washer and get too close to the bike in key areas, but for a quick clean-up it is ok. I am sure others will disagree, but after having my ride since 2k she looks a good as the day i bought her.

I have a decent Honda unit (2500 PSI, 2.2GPM) that I use every time I wash my bike. There is a little controversy about using a power washer on a motorcycle, but if you use a little common sense there is no harm done. Stay away from seals and electronics when you have it set on the higher pressure settings. The electronics are designed to withstand moisture... but when you're blasting them at 2500 PSI, water will get into them and start a corrosion party.

I use some Suzuki Motorcycle wash in conjunction. Just spray it on then power wash it off... no scrubbing necessary!

I do! I just keep a safe distance, and sponge wash 90% of it. no problems here.

I have a cheapy pressure washer from Home Depot.... works pretty well, much better than the hose, but you still need to sponge pretty good first regardless.

atvs and dirt bikes to get the mud off. they aren't really needed for street bikes. that being said, if you like using it, go for it.

thanks for the replies guys...just got back from my Sunday morning ride, gonna use the powerwasher for the brakes, wheels, swingarm, engine cases, etc...

I never had a problem cleaning my Hayabusa with one, I haven't done it yet on the Shawk. Like everyone else said just be smart about what you are spraying and you won't have any problems. Works great for getting those hard to clean areas around the swingarm and inside the wheels and fender. Spray on!!!

Not all sprayers are created equal. Mine has a heater on it and the water temp is 180 coming out of the gun. I also think it's higher pressure than some. The last time we had it serviced the tech described it as being more in the 4k psi range.

I use "Bleachwhite", yep the tire cleaning stuff. I spray it on my entire bike and wash it off, looks like I spent hours detailing it. Been using it on all my bikes for years with no damage to anything. No need for a carwash visit.

interesting...I was thinking about using Simple Green...

I've used Simple Green a long time ago, and if I remember correctly it left a film on several of the surfaces that did not want to come off. I am going to stick with what I know works... Bleachwhite.
