possbile RR failure? PICS take a look!!

well from what i've read i think i know that my RR is failing but i'm looking for confirmation before i swap out with a GSXR model.

bike has 25k on it and stock RR. about 3 months ago while riding gas light came on (i had 60 or so miles left on the tank) and the bike just die,d cut out, nothing. i coasted to a stop tried to start. it cranked and cranked finally fired and ran (weakly, seemed almost to be running on 1 cylinder) rode it a mile to a friends house to see if i could figure out what was wrong. it sat for 15 min i started i and she purred like usual...strange i jump back on and ride the 25 miles home without a problem. i ride all summer like this putting on 5,000ish miles with no issues.

fast forward to 3 days ago...i drop it off to have it jetted for my exhaust/air filter and on the way around the block from getting it jetted the low fuel light comes on again and it starts running rough. take it back to the shop and check the battery (don't remember the volts at idle but the mechanic said it was ok) start it take it up to 1200 14.4 up to 3000 she starts to die, spudder, chough and act funny and drops to 12. something. battery is fairly new and had a good charge (ground was a little loose but now enough to make a difference it still had solid contact)

from what i've read RR failure or RR failure soon?

does it matter if i pick up a gsxr 600 or 1000 RR?

any input will be greatly appreciated!!!!!

thanks guys
andy

" . . . I dropped it off to have it jetted" I don't think your problem is the rr or electrical at all. A stumbling engine will not full give a full charge. The rr may need to be changed and maybe soon but your problem is all carbs.

i'll have to find out where they set the factory pro kit at...what about the gas light? that's what make me think RR? i didn't notice the gauges going out but it wasn't dark at all either... i ran fine i went 2 maybe 3 miles before it started acting funny. idled great the hesitation that it had was gone pulled strong just what i posted above after it had a few miles to warm up.

put some gas in it. Superhawks have a special affinity for fuel.

Carbs also have to be synced to work in unison once they have been removed - very important stuff.

20 miles deep on the tank it didn't need gas, and i guess i assumed that the carbs were synced after it was jetted i'll question that.

Wire in a voltmeter and all your questions (at least on the electrical side) will be answered. This also sounds like it might be coil related.

i'm thinking that the RR is the problem...the third shows the RR (finned possibly replaced at one time? it is an 98 with 27k) the RR physically looks fine but the connector is well see pics. replace with GSXR unit?

thanks
andy
