Pet Peeves: Terminology

I know this is just my own rant, and I'm probably on my own here.. but when did the term Street Bike start referring to Sport Bikes only?

In my self-appointed-expert estimation, there are Dirt bikes and there are Street bikes. And maybe dual-sport bikes.

But do not street bikes include cruisers, standards, sport, sport tour, baggers, etc?

Either way, I dislike the term "street bike" when used to describe crotch rockets... which is another term I dislike.

Fire away.

Log in vs. login
Apart vs. a part
Setup vs. set up

Nouns, verbs, context.

Use to work with a pompous ass who used "irregardless" constantly. Never corrected him.

It is NOT an ATM Machine or a PCV Valve, but it IS a PDF File.

CascadeRider 05-21-2014 01:35 PM

My head just literally exploded.

Oh, my bad, make that figuratively.

But didn't they make irreguardless a word due to popular use? (yeah, dumb reason I know)

CruxGNZ 05-21-2014 11:46 PM

My buddies Superhawk's breaks broke. Can someone help him fix his breaks? He thinks its his mister cylinder.

It's irregardless, not irreguardless. God that annoys me.

CascadeRider 05-22-2014 07:35 AM

Yes I think it's making its way into the dictionary... with a definition of "regardless" so... we're all screwed.

VTR1000F 05-22-2014 11:02 AM

Well, irregardless of it being found in a dictionary or not, if you use it, you're an idiot.

CascadeRider 05-22-2014 11:46 AM

Lol. I would agree. Also, fixd 4 u. ;)
