Is this an OE r/r?

Dumb question but does this look factory? It does to me but I was under the impression the factory VTR R/Rs didn't have cooling fins?
I guess there is no way to tell if it's upgraded or not without looking at the back but at least I would know if it was the one the bike was born with. This is a '98 SuperHawk Thanks PS: This probably needs to be moved to the correct forum. I screwed up |
'98-'00 did not come with a finned R/R. Someone will correct me if I am wrong, but '01-'05 got a finned version, but it was not a MOSFET R/R.
Grab a 10mm socket, pull it off the subframe and look at the back. Two bolts and you will have your answer. |

Best option is search for FH020AA on eBay. |

Don't think so as the fins on OEM 01-05 model run the other way - across rather than lengthways. Unknown aftermarket and as you say still diode based.

I just looked back through my old pictures and saw the '01-'05 R/R is how Wicky describes.

Best option is search for FH020AA on eBay. RECTIFIER ASSY 32800-31J00 If you're looking for a cheaper solution that has shown to work well, then yes I agree, a good used old style shunt SHINDENGEN FH020AA and good wiring is a MUCH better solution than any of the diode R/R |
E.Marquez: isnīt SH775 good option as well? Should be series like SH847, but not so robust. I will replace R/R soon and consider FH020 or SH775.
I donīt undestand electric, just know that FH020 will work, but if there can be little upgrade with SH775 for the same price, why not ... |
