newbie's first ride
 

picked up a '98 bone stock vtr near pittsburg last week and just took 1st ride. i've been riding my nt650 and it's sweetest handling bike i've ever been on but it's missing something. like about 70 hp and 50 lb torque; last long term ride was a zrx1200. i can see i'm going to love this bike but i'll have to put on a new chain and sprockets before i can see what it'll really do. i just retired and my riding is all in mountains from ky and wva down to deal's gap so i don't need to set bike up for commuting or touring. i didn't get to use 5th or 6th gear much, may want to change gearing. i like the way this forum is set up, easy to find good info (and the usual bs). looking forward to wearing out some tires on the super hawk. https://www.superhawkforum.com/forum...cons/icon7.gif

Welcome to the forum.
I kept my NT650 for a couple of years after I got the VTR. It was an excellent bike but the VTR gives me much more of a thrill.

A few of us have transitioned from the GT. I too kept both for a while.
