Newbie With A Couple Questions?
first off this is my first post so i would like to say hi to everyone and say this forum has alot of good info on it.i just purchased a 03 superhawk and was wondering what the must have mods are for these things?im not looking to get to radical this is gonna end up being setup for sport touring.also im gonna purchase either a corbin or sargent seat for it depending on the feedback i get. anyone have experience with both?

I'd recommend Heli Bars or Gen Mar bar risers. The clip-on position was too narrow for me.
Superbling's VFR tank mod will help you with the sport-touring aspirations. |

Oil is very important with this bike...you will have to use the proper type, weight, etc....or she won't run right....I would start a new thread about that, as you will get some good feed back....
while your at it, you may as well start one on Gas, it is as important as oil in these bikes...86...87...89....91...93....race fuel....etc..... Welcome aboard... |
Corbin looks awesome but is very heavy and doesn't fit perfect, and I've tried more than one. Always makes the solo cowl stick up. I trimmed the rubber bumpers underneath when I had one and it helped alot, but still frustrating for how expensive they are. Sargent still looks nice, maybe not quite as flashy as the corbin (depending on your taste) but it's as light as the stock seat and fits properly like the stock seat. I'd also go ahead and say it's more durable than the leather corbin. As far as comfort you'll probably be happy with either one. Oh yeah and welcome aboard! :)

Although on a more serious note. His SeaFoam tips are pretty cool.

I'm certain you're not certain of anything. I don't think you're sincere about anything. And for comments unbecoming "your mother on all fours" - whoa dude - I even cringed on that one! You didn't fall at the gap and hurt your head did you? Either way - glad you're back and had a good time. Shithead! |

I have the Corbin - it lowers your seat position and isn't slanted up towards the back like the stocker, so when you go WOT (wide open throttle) you'll slide back in the saddle. The good news is that if you're short like me, you can get your feet firmly on the pavement when stopped; and it eases the stress on your wrists. Sadly it does weigh a ton, but if weight's a concern, eat a salad. Start saving up for suspension upgrades (Racetech springs & valves up front and Wilbers shock?) - plenty of chat on this already so just search. My advice is just ride her like you stole her for now and save the upgrades for winter fun. Enjoy.

Sergent seat saved my bacon this past week with 1225 miles, I thought I would be laid up for days, but not so much...Great investment... Agreed, ride her like the pig she is, then work on mods this winter.. |
I have Helibars and a (decent fitting) Corbin on my '02 - Would recommend both... Welcome aboard
