New Superhawk Owner... color code for paint???

hey guys.. love the forum. just picked up my 98 hawk in the Bronx, long 8 hour road trip with a 5x8 uhaul... but well worth it. kind of funny that theyre really was a "rumble in the Bronx" when i test drove it! lol . anyways , it came with the sharkskinz lower fairing on it , but the problem is that i need to have it repainted to match the honda red the rest of the bike is. does anyone know the color code for the superhawk red, and where to get it? ide rather not go to home depot and have them match it half hazardly. thanks guys.

Just type in your year, make and model.

Warning, its a little on the expensive side.

Good luck with the new hawk, and be sure to post some pics.

If you are matching the "Italian Red" for the Sharkskinz, you are arguably better-off not going with OEM paint, would be better-off going with another manufacturer such as Dupont or Pittsburgh Paints, both of which can match most common vehicle colors.

Pittsburgh Paints has a search engine in which you can enter manufacturers' paint codes (available at the Color Rite link above), to see if there is a match in their database.

By the way, be prepared to be a little disappointed in the color match, as red is nearly impossible to match, even when you order OEM pre-painted plastics.

Lastly, though Sharkskinz says that the primer-coated lower is "ready to paint", it isn't really--requires at least another stage of wet-sanding and application of a higher quality primer to ensure a smoother, more easily-applied finish.

I would suggest painting the Sharkskins lower gloss black rather than attempt to match it. Not only will it look better, imo, but it will hide the join where it fits with the upper.
