New Superhawk owner

Hey gang, what a great resource you all seem to be.

My Superhawk is only my 2nd bike, and I'm not very mechanical to begin with, so I hope you can give me some solid advice.

My bike is a '98 with about 33k on her.
If I were to bring her in for service, what should I be looking for?
I don't think she's been serviced recently and is due for an oil change soon.

Adjust the chain? Plugs? Any carb work?

Thoughts?

Thanks a bunch.

At that milage you would be looking at a valve check (every 16,000 miles), carb sync, retorque steering stem bearings, chain and sprockets will be your call based on condition. If the bike still has factory cam chain tensionors (CCT), you want to think about replacing them with manual ones from APE; very common mod, or replace with new factory ones; not so common. Brake pads should also be checked. Imite sound like a lot, but if you don't have any real service record for the bike, this is a good place start.

:welcome: to the forum and congrats on the bike. You may want to check the regulator/rectifier aka R/R as the older non cooling finned ones (pre 2001) are known to fail and could take out parts of the electrical system. A popular upgrade is a gsxr unit from certain years - you should be able to find the info in the knowledgebase.
