Just a first post to say hello to you all.
I am from the UK owned my VTr for over 10 years and am member of the UK Firestorm forum as well.
I am registering with you guys as well as there is a lot of good info in here and you have some good threads going on.

Here is a picture of my beast

only a few mods:
K&N Filter and stage 1 dynojet kit
Baffles removed from std pipes
Front forks rebuilt with custom spring and damper mods by UK specialist
WP rear shock with custom spring / damper settings.
R6 Regulator

Now the weather has gone all cold and wet, this bike will be getting some some more work done, but again will be hidden! Taper roller head bearings and I will be removing the CCT's and fitting them with custom stoppers to prevent them fully retracting if the spring fails.

Also with the bad weather I will get the Trials and Enduro bikes out to play, so the biking will continue.

Welcome aboard! That's a great looking Firestorm. I'm sure you'll have lots of experience to share if you've owned yours for that long.

That's a sweet looking VTR...is the CCT problem a big issue, and how easy is it to replace with a mod kit?

Is considered to be a weakness on these bikes, especially the front one which tends to run dry due to the angle it sits at.
It may only be a small %age of bikes that have the problem, but when the chain jumps the end result is bent valves, so various people have established a modification to the standard CCT to make it fail safe. Or you can fit Manual CCT's from companies like APE.

If you do a search on these Forums I am sure you will find all the tech reports on how to change the CCT's without messing up the timing, and how to do the stopper mods.

here are 2 links to the UK forum with the instructions that I will be working to.

Thanks AMcQ..appreciate the help on the CCT mod. I see you're from the UK..we are originally from West Yorkshire until 7 years ago when we moved over to Canada.
Where are you based in the UK?
