Hi all, I'm a new member. Just picked up a 98 SuperHawk. She's been laid down, but I got it on a trade. I live in Southwest MI. I just need to find the parts to get it back on the road. Excited to get started. I'm new to this forum, but not new to forums in general.

Welcome to the forum! You will find a wealth of information and help here. Hope you enjoy your new ride once you get it repaired.

(You are lucky to get a red one as it is the fastest color. ;))

Well unfortunately, the front fairing is in pretty rough shape. I am probably going to end up going with the streetfighter route.

Unless already done, you will want to address the cam chain tensioners, the regulator rectifier and the suspension. After that should be a reliable ride naked or dressed.

Thanks for the heads up, I'm certainly new to these bikes. I have always been a Jeep guy. I really enjoy modifying vehicles. Here's a couple pics of what my Jeep looks like.

Welcome.

What's that on your rear cowl? Is it on both sides?

It's just a sticky add on. The previous own had a bunch of those little doo-dad add ons. I'm slowly working on removing them.

Nice! I spent a little time working on it today, stripped the fairings off since the left side was falling apart. They also had a bunch of LED's within everything which made for a lot of wire cutting. I plan on getting new fairings in the future, but that's not the big priority right now. I do need to get the left side rearset. I'm also having a hard time tracking down a shift lever for this thing....

Welcome to the forum!!!

Life is better naked ;)

I have a left fairing that has a million coats of paint but has almost no damage on it. I also have a shifter, used abused but in good working order...

thedeatons 08-05-2015 05:58 PM

How much ya want for the shifter? I'll take it!

Just kidding LOL.

Welcome to this crazy, awesome forum.

Thanks guys, glad to be here. Scottie, I read your whole build earlier today. Very detailed work you're doing on that bike, I dig it.

Rubicon0311 08-05-2015 06:37 PM

Ha! I'm in the same boat, I should probably get around to registering the darn thing so I can get it on the road

scottiemann 08-05-2015 06:54 PM

I have a plate...inspected? god no.... not for the past 4 years atleast...

Rubicon0311 08-05-2015 06:55 PM

Luckily there are no inspections in Michigan, but I do still need a plate lol
