New Guy Here

Just got my first Super Hawk yesterday and i am loving this bike. Just want to say hi and introduce myself. I am a complete newb to these bikes. Mine needs a small amount of cosmetic TLC but it seems to be mechanically sound. I am also a fairly inexperienced rider, i have been riding off and on since 16, owned a sv650 and some older 80's bikes but don't have more than maybe 15k of rider experience. First question i have is were some some good places to find inexpensive OEM parts for our bikes?

Welcome. Use the classified section of the forum to find people with parts for sale (ex: me) And if you can't find what you're looking for, well, you can place an add yourself stating what you need (ex: WTB Blah, blah, blah) ;)

Thanks and Absolutely, I am definitely not a newb to forums and the search tool etc. What I am looking for seems to be a tough item to find for less than 85 bucks and seems that there are a few guys already looking for rear seat cowls on here. Also looking for a clutch cover, the bike had been laid over before, someone welded the cover so it doesn't leak, has all new plastics, no cowl. After paint and a new cover and cowl, she'll be good as new.

Welcome aboard

Enjoy the Hawk, but know it will bite ur ass if U don't respect its power.

And if ur too fast in a corner & get scared, lean more it will handle it.

Always check ur tire pressure - U'd be surprised how many people ride with improper levels.

These bikes are easy to maintain - some electrical shyte goes wrong R/R or ECU but not too often.

Change the oil, lube the chain & ur good to go.

Be Safe

Welcome aboard. :winner:

Here are a few search terms you will likely become familiar with.

1. Hawks carb setup guide
2. TPS adjustment
2. Carb synch guide
3. OEM to MCCT replacement
4. R/R replacement

That's a nice place to start.

Get a Carbonadi carbon fibre cover for protection - covers up a multitude of sins :-)

Carbonadi - clutch protector VTR1000 Firestorm clutch protector HONDA VTR1000 Firestorm

Just glue it on with some hi-temp silicone adhesive.

kickass feed back guys, love it! Where are these things suppose to idle? Mine seems to be stuck around 1500 rpm which seems high. I have a few days to research, right now she is being painted

Denver, PA is about 35 mi. west of me.

Ever taken a ride out towards Ephrata, PA on the 1st Sun of the month?

So awb, the answer to your first question is Cheapcycleparts(.com), ronayers(.com) and bikebandit(.com)

They have actualy microfiche exploded views of every part on the bike. For sure depending on your pref you can get used parts on here or fleabay. I rarely buy new if I can find used but some you just wont find or will be worn out.

When you have a question do a search. But some searches will come up with a lot of extras and be overwhelming. But most questions can be answered by these guys on here. They're very knowledgeable about these bikes; and have helped me also quite a bit. So ask..
I'm quite sure you'll love the bike as well. Good ridin to you....

Thanks. I used the search tool often and it comes in handy for the most part.
