First thing I'd like to ask...what is the "bad" word I tried to put in my Sig file...this is what I submitted

In the Uzbek language AHRMA is a vicious and degrading insult to someones mother.

Nope, haven't bought it yet. Wanted to find out what I might need to know about purchasing a 1998 SuperHawk with less than 5k. Nothing done to it but an exhaust can. Starts...runs...rides ok. Happiest above 5k rpms otherwise stumbles. Needs tires, all fluids changed, valve check, and? Had a wiring issue with the turn signals, owner has changed them to flush mounts and they work fine. $2800.

Clean the carbs well (to me that means cleaned, 60 min in a quality heated sonic tank with the right soap, inspected, worn parts replaced, TPS modified and adjusted for 500 OHM)
Reinstall carbs, adjust fuel screw and idle, sync them and see where your at on run ability.
Yes on a new to me bike or for one of my owners, id be checking the valves just to get a known base line if nothing else.... if you have not researched and made a decision on the cam chain tensioners might want to do that before purchase or at least before you check the valves.
Used bike inspection should include checking the RR wiring and connector for heat damage...its a part swap / reliability MOD that should be considered even if no damage is seen,,but if the RR connector is heat damaged its a nice bargaining chip for something you will be doing anyway.

Thanks for the info. So, Honda's rectumfriers..we're still a problem in '98! My 1100F, 750Sohc had that malady as well. Cure Mofset, Rick's, or?
Suspected the carbs off the top. Bike hadn't been started for almost a year.
