New Dunlop Qualifiers Pressure settings?
I just got new Dunlop Qualifiers on my '00 996, I've had the front on for a week and my rear on fresh today. Pressure rating on the tires is 42 PSI max. Anyone know a good setting for commuting & lets say agressive spirited riding also? The front is @35 PSI and the rear is at 37 PSI from the mount and balancer.

My two cents;
For commuting and general riding around I think it is best to run tires at or very near max pressure. Better mpg, longer tire life and better suspension compliance over bumps, potholes etc. Lower pressures make sense to me on the racetrack or ripping down very smooth mountain/country roads, but not for everyday riding and not on rough pavement. |
After experimenting with different pressures on Qualifiers for last 14,000 miles, I settled on 36 front and 38 rear. I get decent wear and good grip on the few fun curves I encounter on my 40 mile commute.
Works well in the twisties too.:draggin: |
Back before I sold my SH, I ran the Qualifiers.
I settled on 28 psi front and 30 psi rear. 90% of my riding was very aggressive stuff at and around the Deals Gap area. I have no idea what works good for commuting and longer life on the highways. |
I commute 65 miles each way, but after work and on the weekends is a bit more aggressive. Im gonna break the new tire in goin to work tomorrow.

As I'm sure you know, take it easy on the break-in for the first couple hundred miles, slowly increasing lean angle. For me they give great grip, and I'm getting 7,000 miles on my 2nd rear. The front, put on 13,000 miles ago, is pretty well worn, but still working fine.
I'm about due for another full set. |
36/42psi... yummy!
