Need New Levers - What Type?
 

Hey after two mishaps this past weekend - VTR was Narcoleptic & kept laying down and gas stations - Double Doh!!

Anyway - I need both levers

Thus what type? - something thats adjustable.

And not looking to spend over $100. if thats possible

Do you frequently 2 finger your levers? If so, shorty is the way to go. I can still fit 3 if needed. I wear an Astar XL glove if that helps.

My weekend got busy real quick! Fri and Sat are out. There is a local ride sun and I'm not sure if I'm going yet or not. Depends on my battery. All suited up this morning and she wouldn't lite off. :mad::mad:

Moto-777 is a good no-name shorty lever. Fully adjustable, reasonable tolerances, good finish still after 2 seasons, pair for 45$. That was a while back though, I'd recommend them if they're still carried

+1 on ASV.

Can you post a pic with the moto777 pevers on your bike? They look nice, but i'm wondering how the deep dogleg looks when looking at it from the seat...

E-bay Pazzo knockoffs are pretty decent. I grabbed a pair for under $50, and all the parts are interchangeable with my "real" Pazzos. I'd bet they were made in the same factory. The only difference is in the quality of the anodizing.

These pics aren't super close up but you get the idea. You can still 3 finger these if you want but i do two with leather gloves and they work well.

The clutch is standard length correct, and the front brake is a shorty?

both levers are roughly an inch and a half ( closer to just an inch actually) shorter than stock, both clutch and brake shorties identical in length. The pics do a poor job of showing that...i'll try to get some close ups tonight if i remember

I kinda do both - sometimes 2 or 3 fingers sometimes 4.

And I have a pair of Dainese that are real comfy.

Did my research before purchasing and very happy Scottiemann. The only difference between these and Pazzo levers is these are not anodized, or processed to increase thickness of the natural oxide layer on the surface of the metal, which some people find to be a plus. A few of my riding friends have parts with this process done, and it actually peels like paint! They all love the levers I purchased, and have picked up some themselves. Fit, size, and adjustments are spot on and shifting and clutching are noticeably better. Most reviewed these as positive, but I'm sure we can hear more comments from the forum. My verdict is, a Great Buy!

My new levers are working well, but I just wanted to pass on some knowledge I gained after install. It appears my new levers, particularly the clutch was a slightly longer than the original. Thus, when I engaged the clutch, engine would rev, but the clutch would not engage initially but all of a sudden she would jump into gear. This was due to the small pin in the clutch lever not being fully engaged. Could have caused major issues, but I recognized the problem immediately. It was easily fixed by machining the clutch lever down slightly. I don't see this discussed previously in any threads, but I'm hopeful some of our more gifted mechanics can explain what was going on in a little more detail. I also recently replaced my clutch, steel plates, and springs with EBC racing kit, and did include the gasket so I am good to go! Let me know your thoughts if you had similar issues with new levers!

The EBC clutch kit may be over all thicker and require more throw on the clutch lever to engage. Just an idea, a picture would be nice so we can see exactly what you machined.... I am currently in the market for new levers but having dropped SOOOO much money on my bikein the past month, i'm not looking to brake the bank so i'm curious about these knock off levers

I may have misread, are you talking about the pin that connects the lever to the piston of the MC not being seated properly in the lever? If so that makes sense that the clutch wouldnt engage.

Badboy01 - Couple questions:

#1 I thought you ordered shorty levers, but you're saying the clutch lever was actually longer than the stock lever?

#2 If it is a true shorty lever, how many fingers can you fit on it to grab the clutch? 3 max? 4?

James, I did order shorty levers, and Scottieman helped me clarify things a little further on his previous post. The pin that connects the lever to the piston on the MC was not seated properly within this lever. This is why it needed a slight adjustment. Working fine now. I'll post some photos after I finish my paint touch-up.

Thanks. Pictures with gloved fingers on the lever would be nice.

Also a measurement of the dogboned "finger section" of the lever would be great.

I have some of those Ebay levers, from China in my case. Absolutely no issue with either fit or finish, and so cheap that if I had to replace them in the future that won't be an issue for me. I bought a second set when I fitted the CBR954 master cylinder.
