my main fuse keeps blowing out

my battery has been dieing on me for the last couple of weeks. so i have been charging it every night. i was out riding a couple nights ago and stoped to talk to some friends. when i tried to turn my bike back on i got nothing. not even a head light. so i replaced the battery and still nothing. i start taking my bike apart in hopes to find a bad ground or blown fuse. i found that my main fuse was blown, and when ever i try to put a new one in and pass current through it it blows out again.

any thoughts or suggestions would be very appriciated.

please help i am dead in the water

you have a short somewhere check the wires anywhere they rub the frame and look for wearing insulation

The key piece of information here is that you must have had a partial short when the battery was being drained down but it wasn't pulling enough current to blow the fuse and now you've got a strong enough short that blows the fuse. I wouldn't look for a wire touching the frame because that fault would have shown itself as a blown fuse right away. It is more likely going to be a component such as the starter, a light fixture, ecu etc. I would begin removing all other fuses on the bike (if there are others) and or removing as many electrical connections as you can and see if it stops. Once you get it to stop, start connecting stuff up again until it blows and then you've got another piece to the puzzle.

http://www.electrosport.com
These are supposed to be the best available.
I have a brand new one I bought but never installed.
My problem turned out to be a bad battery NOT my stock RR
Paid $75 for it + shipping
Sell it to you for $75 WITH shipping included :-)
They retail for around $100 + shipping

P.S. This post probably belonge in the "Technical Discussion" section
