My Dot 5 mistake... looking for some parts

well after talking with my dealer I think we agreed that replacing the rubber parts is probably the best since it's been in there awhile and his experience with it is basically it ruins the seals and rubber... Well the gixxer1000 brakes I'll rebuild, but the rear brake and clutch I'm hoping for your help. Does anyone have a stock clutch setup/line laying around as well as a rear brake master cylinder, line and calipers? i know on ebay I believe the complete setups go for about as much as I'd pay for the rebuild kit... Also just curious but would other bike's rear brake master cylinder and caliper work as well as the clutch master cylinder???? hoping to get by with minimal costs for this mistake

well found a rear setup for $55 + shipping... but then also a rear caliper + line for $15. might do that and get the rebuild for the MC, then figure out the clutch...

Good luck, I think I have an oem rear line somewhere if you want it.

will let you know. rear caliper rebuild prob will be real cheap since there's only like 2 seals. heh

This is kind of off topic, but.....what did you have to do to fit the gixxer brakes. Was it just a bolt on deal, or was there some major retro-fit?

superhawk22 Jun 17, 2006 09:49 AM

'01&'02 Gsxr 1000 calipers are a direct fit but no other years fit.

GoBlu Jun 17, 2006 01:18 PM

Do I need to change any other parts to make it work (master cylinder, lines, disc)?

superhawk22 Jun 17, 2006 08:09 PM

You should use the master from the gsxr, (can get away with vtr but should match), but you can use your lines and rotors.

GoBlu Jun 17, 2006 10:51 PM

Rotors....I was having a brain fart and could not think of the word..(disc, what a moron)

superhawk22 Jun 17, 2006 10:56 PM
