Corbin vs. Sargent. Which one would or do you have and why? I have a 72 mile round trip commute. After 2 surgeries, I don't have the best back. I plan on getting 3/4" bar risers to help some.

I have a Corbin and have a 70 mile round trip commute. No complaints, but I have not tried a Sargent. If you ride two up at all, the backrest on the Corbin is nice for your passenger.

I've had a back for 48 years and bought a Sargent 2 years ago. Best money ever spent. Back pain is not an issue for me. Actually I've had a back for 63 years and a bad one for 48 years.

I am dealing with long term back problems. MRI confirmed L3-L4 bulge, L4-L5 tear, and L5-S1 rupture. My concours is far better for my back and my hawk. I can't resist though. :)

Although Corbin is the bigger name, and probably a good option, I've heard better comments about the Sargent.

I feel your pain Old Yeller....literally. I had a L4/5 rupture and now have an artificial disc along with a fusion of the two vertebra. Yippie and I'm only 37 years old.

You'd probably be good either way. A lot of members really like the Sargent seats, but I've never tried one. I do however have a Corbin seat and I can vouch for how comfortable it is. Heli bars really help too.

I've had both. Hands down the sargent is by far the better seat. IMHO.

I have both, mostly use the sargent. the corbin has a better profile, but is way too hard for my butt.. The sargent is good enough without complaints.

I've had both Corbin and Sargent seats on my bike and the Sargent wins by a long shot. The Sargent is soft and firm at the same time and is also flat and wide providing exceptional support. While the Corbin Smuggler was a great idea, the seat itself was rock hard and contoured for a baboons a$$ (I mean no offense to Corbin owners!). I'd take a stock Honda seat any day over a Corbin.

I have the Sargent for my Superhawk and love it. I just ordered a Corbin modular for my 2011 Concours C14. My understanding of Corbin's are that they take time to break-in but once YOU break them in, they are suppose to be very nice. So far between the two, I would take the Sargent hands down but am still holding out hope that the Corbin will break in and be worth the money spent. Between the two, I have about 2000 miles on the Sargent and about 400 miles on the Corbin so a bit of a difference in miles in the saddle so I'm sure they all soften up as your ass logs some miles.

I have had the Corbin for a while now and it's MILES better than a stock seat. Back rest is a plus for passengers too.

I have both on two different bikes and they are both good. The Corbins are harder. If you ride bicycles you will know about sit bones and soft tissue. The Corbins put you on the sit bones so your ass never starts to ache however when you first sit on it they are not squishy. The Sergent has a plastic base while the corbin is fiberglass and a bit heavier. I have a Corbin and gen-mar risers on my bike and it is very comfortable.

IMHO it has a lot to do with how you ride as to which seat you would prefer.

The Corbin seat tends to lock you in one position and it is kind of difficult to move around, let alone even try to hang off the bike with one. It is also quite heavy, I mean you pick one up and you have to say, damn..... :shock:

The Sargent allows you to move around and hang off, though not quite as easy as on the stock seat.

They both are comfortable. So the real choice is do you hang off the bike in corners and do you tend to move around while you're riding. If yes, then the Sargent (or reworked stock seat) is what you want.

If you ride with your knees in and don't really move around, then the Corbin would be a better choice for you.

Then again YMMV but that is what I have seen. ;)

Had the Sargent, caused me to constantly slide forward and mash the 'boys' against the tank. One expansion joint while the suspension was set to firm and I was out of position and it went to e-Bay.

Your proportions may be different.

I actually had only made it to 32 when I had the replacement and fusion. I guess that is what I get for high siding an R6 and having it land on my back.
As the sayin goes...I'd rather go out battered and brusied than have lived a boring life!
