My Bootie!!!!!!
So after an all day ride my bootie said OUCH!!!!!!!!
Nothing like riding a dirt bike where I can stand up... so I have heard a little on the subject, but was hoping to get some more input on Seats. I'm looking to get a COMFORTABLE seat for my 98 SuperHawk... 1. Are there seats specifically for comfort? 2. Are there seats specifically for women? Anything else you can tell me or recommend I would very much appreciate! Thanx! :) |
Sargeant & Corbin both make a seat for the SH
you could redo the foam in your stocker with some memory foam for added comfort as well. what would be specifically different for a woman's seat anyway? aren't all seats a little easier on you gals than on 'the boys'?  |
Check out the Dennis Kirk thread they have some corbin seats left for a killer deal plus you use the online coupon. I just purchased one for the same reason.

I have a "special" girl seat for it... maybe for us girls they make them narrower... I don't know.... :) |
I have a Corbin Smuggler for sale if you're interested...

http://www.denniskirk.com/jsp/produc...fCatId=&mmyId= Also my bike has this little cover over that part, so I assume I have to get the kind of seat that the cover will fit over right? You all are so great! Thanks for being such a great sounding board!!! |
It does not come with the back rest, it is just the seat you can get the back rest as an option plus its removable.
from what I have heard the cover/cowl will fit over it |

I was thinking you could potentially do it yourself...just gotta take the cover off and shave the hard foam off and put some memory foam down, then restaple the cover back on...if you send it off to somebody it could be a week or two depending on shipping time.

had to do it  |

http://www.denniskirk.com/jsp/produc...fCatId=&mmyId= I have a cusyom version of that seat on mine and the rear seat cowl/cover will fit over it. I have regularly put 400-500 miles on it in a day and it is as comfortable as a sportbike seat can be expected to be. As for the memory foam, any decent car upholstery shop should be able to do it for you. |

She could get one of those covers I saw advertised on here a while ago too, couldn't she? Take off the stock cover, shave the foam, put on the memory foam, and put the new cover on. Should give better grip than the stock seat too. Plus the look of something more custom and expensive?

Let's not forget we can stand up on the Hawk and also do other dirtbikie things like jumps and wheelies. The railroad tracks at Edwardia here in Greensboro are a good launch.

I'll let you know in a few weeks if there is any improvement!!!
I loved the used corbin I had on superbling. That price, especially with the coupon discount, is awesome. |
I never really had a problem with the stock seat. I would wear bicycle shorts under my leathers for less chafing than my tighty whities. :)
BTW-women's bicycle seats are wider, since their pelvic structure is designed for childbirth. |

I thought it was understood that a gilrl on a bike has to post pics of herself... Ask Ali... |
and by the way.. "yes".. typically this IS a "boys club"... but any are welcomed..
Welcome to the club. |

I just put a Corbin Gun Fighter & Lady on my SH and like it a lot. It change the seating potion for me by moving me back and down lower taking pressure off of my wrist and lower back. In terms of general comfort it is not bad, but need to put some more miles on to get it broken in. The stock seat cowl does fit on it. Probally the best part is that the seat comes off a lot easier than the stock.

Oh yeah... she's gonna be popular.

seat mods
There is a guy named Spencer who mods seats for a reasonable price.
http://greatdaytoride.com/Home_Page.php I hear he's the greatest thing since sliced white bread. He even advises how to ship for least cost instead of making UPS rich. Several friends have first hand good experience with the guy. Miles of Smiles Tom |
