is my abttery dieing or is it something else?

i made apost a little while back about the bike cutting out while cranking over a few times. i havent had a chance to test the battery yet but today it did it again and when i looked down it had reset my clock and both trip meters. am i wise to invest in a new battery come spring time or is this something else?

That's either a dieing battery or the start of a failing R/R...

Check your charging voltage. If it is well over spec (15v+) then chances are your R/R took out your battery. If that is the case, replace both or you'll fry another battery

Check your terminals. Mine did the same thing over the summer. The negative terminal wasn't loose but needed a good cleaning.

^^ Same here

another problem was dimming lights as the battery wasnt there to act as a capacitor....

cleaned and tightened the contacts and shes been good ever since.

btw i had a new battery last season and Suzuki RR

i find when my blinker is on i can watch my lights on my display dim a little with each blink. i need to yank it out this week and test it. terminals look good, i just hardwired my batery tender and they looked clean.

The quickly cutting out then running normal sounds like a bad connection somewhere. Usually when the r/r goes it is a steady problem. Ie: battery drain. That is unless it fried something.

yeah and now its killing the clock and trip odo when it cuts out. im gonna check the battery when i get the bike make, maybe do the rr swap over the winter.
