whats up peeps
i just recently joined the forum because i picked up a project bike. got it for $40! woot woot. lol its complete (mostly) and i say mostly be cause its really only missing the hardware for the tank and fairings. it doesn't run at the moment that i know of. the batter is dead and on the charger and i has no gas. the guy before me got it from a dude that couldn't figure out why it wont start and idle. supposedly it would kinda fire and run with some throttle. my buddy before me noticed the idle screw was completely backed out..... hmmm might have been why it wouldn't idle. it also hasnt been registered in 2-3 years so i have no idea the last time it was actually ridden. so i really have no idea what my plan is for this bike other than it is something to tinker with. the only plans i have for it right now is to get it running and clean it up. the paint is destroyed and looks like it was a awful rattle can job to begin with. i have a paint scheme in mind that im working on right now and i just need the battery charged before i can get into trying to make it run. so far i have bled the clutch and the front brake but that looks like its going to need a master cylinder rebuild. you should have seen the black tar looking goo that came out. ha and ive painted the front fender and the little piece that goes on the bottom. i will probably have some questions later since its been a very long time since i have gotten to work on a bike this old but its nice to get into some good ol fashioned wrenching. my 2011 zx10 and my wifes 2014 cbr650f dont require much. any ideas, tips, upgrades, cheap mods, recommendations, and conversation is welcome. i will also be posting picture and updates of the progress.
