Motor on CL - in crate
1 Attachment(s)
This is an interesting CL ad. One of those 'ya don't see very often.
Here's the text: " Way back in 1998, this motor was in a new Honda Super Hawk, VTR 1000F. It is a 1000cc V-twin motor. Made from 1997 thru 2005. This particular motor, was making some noise, and nobody at the Honda Dealer could figure out what the cause was. So.... the good folks at America Honda said, "give 'em a new motor". They did, it was installed, and the guy rode off into the sunset. Honda wanted the motor back, so they could determine the cause of the problem. They never called for it. Ten years later I bought it. Twenty years have passed.... It is still in the crate. I will never use it now. So if you want to be part of this continuing saga.... just call me. Thanks, for looking. Is it just me or is that an RC51 motor?
|
Holy cow, good eye. A quick google image search tells me it might actually be a rc51 engine. hmmmm Wish I could hear what the 'making some noise' actually sounded like.
|
I wonder what an unknown condition rc51 engine would fetch on ebay. It's already crated, so shipping would be simplified.
|
Well, I've never owed an RC51, but if a VTR motor isn't "making some noise", there's probably something wrong with it.
|
Yup looks like a SP engine
Probably make the money back just from the engine covers if breaking / parting it out. Still odd his story describing the provenance and history if the seller fundamentally doesn't know what he bought. At least it couldn't have suffered from auto CCT failure ;-) |
It is an RC51 motor not VTR
There is more than $200 in parts if someone wants to break it |
