Mods Done!!!! NOW WITH PICS!!!!!!!

95 Vfr Bars, SS lines, Mirror Extenders and Yosh pipes. Finally got done and took it for a test ride up the street and cant stop smiling. All was pretty easy. The bars was no sweat. For some reason they hit no matter how I set them {side to side} on the upper fairing. I guess I will trim the fairing a little. Any suggestions? The SS lines {Russel} was so easy I did it twice. The first time I routed them wrong and couldnt seem to bleed all the air out. The second time around went well. The mirror extenders was easy {bought from rrbarna on ebay} was easy. They look out of place a bit but if I can see behind me I can live with it. The pipes were easy, the only thing is I bought new gaskets and they WONT fit so I will need to find something different to seal the leaks. Any sugestions?

Did you remove the locking nubs (tabs) from the underside of the bars. They don't line up with the superhawk's location thus the bars won't sit flush with the top bridge. Remove those.

Most aftermarket pipes don't use gaskets. I like to use anti-seize compound on all joints.

Mods done........mods are never done! ;)

Nope I didnt remove those. I did test the fit first and they set flush or so I thought. I will check it out when I get home. Where do I get this anti-seize? What is it called?

It's actually called "Anti-Seize" and it usually comes in a small squeeze tube. I think I got my last tube at Wal-mart but most hardware and auto parts stores should have it too. It's the business for exhaust hardware bolts and spark plug threads. Ironically, look for it near the threadlocking compounds.

BTW once you start modding you're neve done... unless you sell the bike (or car) and start over with another...:)

Sad, but true.....

Anti-seize

So you put the anti-seize on the bolts or at the joints? I had a similar question in the sense that I have a 2Bros Full system. Was on the bike when I bought it. Never had any problems/complaints with it. Took the exhaust off recently and noticed there were not any gaskets. Didn't know if that was standard for aftermarket exhaust of not. Do I need them? Also, the couple of joints in the exhaust have some "wiggle room" to them. Is that where I would put the anti-seize?

flatlander Apr 23, 2008 08:39 AM

The anti-seize is for the bolts, it's a special type of grease that works well for high temp applications. Such as all exhaust and header bolts and spark plug threads. I started using it a few years back when my dad bought a Mitsu pickup used. When he went to change the the spark plugs, one of the plugs was absolutely seized into the aluminum head of the engine. After trying all kinds of penetrating oils to free it up, which didn't work, we took it to a mechanic who ruined the head trying to get it out. The $2 tube of antiseize is much cheaper than a new head.

You can be done....you just have to be VERY thorough your first time ;)

get some high temp silicon gasket goo. slap it all around the inner tube when attatching your pipes, then just lock it down. feel for small leaks and apply as needed.

What type of mirrors did you use. All I can see behind me are my shoulders.

More Pics. Vfr Bars, Bars touching on left turn, Bars touching on right turn and clip on at the base. The clip ons appear to sit flush but I will cut off the tab just in case. The bars dont touch a little bit.........they touch a lot. The pics are not fully turned right or left and they already touch.
