Will the stock bike wheelie at 5000+ feet in 1st with just throttle (ie. not clucth-pop).

yes it will. I wheelied my bike up in the smokie mountains near deals gap. I clutched it up in 2nd and my bike isn't even set up for higher elevations riding. No problem in 1st gear.

^ Smart ***! It should have NO problem doing a 1st gear wheelie....anywhere...anytime. But don't do wheelies emmkay. Wheelies are bad emmkay...and if you do wheelies then you'll be bad emmkay.

I meant power-wheelie, not the clutch dump technique.

YES most defanatly! You need to clutch it up in second but for first all I need is just 3500 rpm 4000 rpm mite be the norm you go any higher and it will come up way to fast and you better becarfull although alote has to do with your weight I weight 170lbs. Just close and whack open to throttle briskly and the front will no doubt come up!!! Be ready to click second and you will ride a wheelie for a long time remember that rear brake is your friend if you find your self coming up to fast!!

Bah.. You don't have to clutch up anything. I do 2nd gear power wheelies. All ya gotta do is pull up on the handlebars (and time it right doesn't hurt either). 4th gear is the tricky one...

15/43 with aftermarket pipes and 195/190 jets. I've leveled the playing field with gravity just a bit. Plus I only weigh about 150lb.

Re: Mile-High Wheelie

maybe play around in first to find the balance point. but these bikes come up fast and nasty in first. If you want to ride it out a little bit pull it up in second gear then you can learn to shift through the wheelie. But you did not hear it for me.And do not do anything your not comfortable with

Man, the balance point is way the hell up there. I'd start with just getting the front wheel up and steady before I push it that far. Even I rarely hit the balance point, pretty dangerous.
