I know one of you guys want to jump on the Marchesini magnesium wheels for the Superhawk.
Saw them on ebay when I was "window shopping" for wheels

Guy on the CSB forum has these if anyone is interested....

Here is what he sent me about them..."pair of Marchesini magnesium wheels for a Superhawk selling $800 (~2 grand new, in like-new condition) Major handling improvement (much easier to turn due to reduced moment-of-inertia + reduced unsprung weight).

If anyone is interested I will pass on the info....

something to keep in mind though is that they must be WELL taken care of. magnesium erodes very easily.

Just being picky, but the correct term is "corrodes".

When I repaired my Magnesium wheels. I used a zinc chromate primer. I had read that this was the prefered primer for magnesium. (I can't remember where I sourced this info from.) I found this type of primer at Boaters World. It's made to refinishing outboard motors.

From the Dymag site regarding the repair/refinishing of magnesium wheels..

4. What should I do if the paint finish is chipped or marked?
A. Temporarily you should use a high build-up touch up pen available from your local car accessory shop. If in any doubt please feel free to return your wheels to Dymag for a full refurbishment service.

7. Can my Dymag wheels be re-painted?
A. Yes. However if you do not wish Dymag to refurbish them please be aware that these are magnesium and if the chemical protection is blasted off it will seriously affect the wheels.

PERMANANT DAMAGE CAN RESULT FROM INCORRECT USE OF CHEMICAL PAINT STRIPPERS OR BLASTING MEDIA..
