hello all, newbie here. love this forum, i've been browsing for a while learning lots of stuff. lots of beautiful bikes on here too.

i just picked up my first 'crotch rocket' last week which is a 2004 vtr1000. i got to ride it for about an hour then it started making noises so i parked it. long story short, a week later and i still can't ride it. what do you all do when you've got this awesome machine and you've got to wait for parts??? this really sucks!!!!

i do have a vtx 1300 that i could ride but riding a sportbike got in my blood when i test rode one in daytona last spring.

anyway, just wanted to introduce myself

well, it was leaking fuel and making a noise, kind of between a shock and a coughing, snapping sound during deceleration then it would stall out. the leaking fuel turned out to be a hose (behind the petcock) needing replacement. i'm still waiting for the hose so i don't really know if that will fix everything. i did take it for a 10 min ride this morning after popping the hose back on temporarily and now its leaking coolant out the left side (see my response in 'coolant leak' thread)
