issuse: my bike won't start after haveing the tank remove to go get it painted

HI, it been a week an three days since i took off the fairings and the fuel tank. Befor i took off the tank , i put the fueling system on the tank in off mode so the fuel would not come out. also i single tied down every line so no dusk would go in the lines. now today after puting on the tank back in to it's place and haveing the fuel line back in it place. the bike would start for only a few sec then die. i look in the vtr manual an everything look correct i m thinking i got the line in the wrong spot. any ideas? cause im not trying to bring my bike in the shop where they would charge me 85$ an hr ... please help

I had the same problem with my bike. The vacuum hose was on wrong spot. Simple fix.

I also had the tank off and mixed the vent lines up at first. Luckily, found a couple different threads and one with pictures that helped make everything work and the bike is running great again.

If you have the hoses hooked up wrong, or the valve closed it won't start.
Take a picture of the underside and upload it, we can tell you if the hoses are correct or not.

sounds like you put the vacuum hose on the wrong nipple...if you put it on the nipple pointing straight down from the petcock then that's your problem...move it to the petcock nipple that points out the left side of the bike and you'll be in business!
