Insurance question.... Is $25/mo for uninsured motorist worth it?

I think I'm going to remove this from my policy. I hate insurance. The whole concept is a scam for safe drivers to subsidize the bad ones.

The uninsured motorist is $25/mo, (the entire policy is only $37/mo). I think this covers injuries, not property damage. So the bike would be a goner anyways.

I already have a PPO health plan from work, so I don't see the need to pay twice.

GA just upper the rates on uninsured motorist, so i took it off.

Call 3 agencies and ask. Get your answer and maybe a better deal? And of course, the day you take it off your insurance, some uninsured fuckstick is gonna hit you! lol!, hopefully not though!

my wife works in insurance she (not sales) and her company figures about 30% of drivers are not insured. I don't know if that helps with your decision but another thing to think about is alot of uninsured motorist coverage also covers you for hit and run. Just things to think about.

I just called Geico, I have my current policy with them. They want $853/yr to insure a 2002 Superhawk. Is this in the ballpark with what some of you are currently paying?? Geico classifies the bike as "high performance".

Lot of variables here.. Your age, gender, if it is your primary transportation, and location being the biggest ones.

I pay around $450ish a year with State Farm, and this was after a rate increase.

I know motorcycle insurance is really cheap for my friends up in MN because they have such a short riding season that most of the year the bike is parked.

A little over $300 a year for full coverage with $100K/$300K coverage. It's the one area where being in the over 40 group helps! Oh, and having the house and cars with the same insurance company.

I'm about half that with Progressive. Over 30 probably doesn't hurt though.

As for uninsured motorist, I pay it and hope like hell I never need it. But it's really a personal gamble.

I'm 28 in Chicago burbs, started riding at 26, insurance was always in low $300s for a year with Allstate.

Our Allstate agent stated that the un-insured coverage rules depend upon your state and is for bodily injury - but depending on your personal health insurance it is a waste of premium over and beyond your health insurance deductibles.
He also stated that unless you live in a state that does not enforce auto/bike insurance or have shitty health insurance or live close to a USA border you do not need it, just up your one time coverages.

I'm a 27 y/o male, with 25/50 liability and 25/50 uninsured ... paying $136/year. Probably should up the liability coverage though ....

Probably helps to have our auto policy with them as well, plus no tickets, etc ...

I assume all the rates above are with collision and comprehensive? I have never carried those but I have also never paid more than $85/yr. I've used Universal Underwriters, Progressive, and now E-surance. My current coverage is 300/500 and this is $75/yr on the SHawk
