Important ARAI helmet info!
Yesterday, while riding on the freeway, the black rubber molding/trim strip around the bottom edge of my Arai RX-7 Corsair helmet flew off. I went online last night and registered my helmet on their website, using all the info from inside of the helmet. I bought the helmet new at a shop in April of 2005. Apparently, after entering the Snell serial number into the website, my helmet was actually made on 12-30-2002. The box and paperwork, and website says the warranty is for 5yrs, however the website, after registration said my warranty expired on 12-30-2009. I could not find any phone number in their website, and I called a local authorized dealer who gets their replacement parts from Rocky Tucker, a big M/C parts distributor, but still had no ph#. I found a phone number for Arai on the internet: 610-366-7220. I called and spoke with Kathy, who handles the internet registrations. They are in Pennsylvania. She said they have been extending their warranties on their helmets to 9yrs, since they discovered the adhesive they have been using to hold the trim piece on had too much petroleum in it and the trim pieces have been falling off without any warning. She said they don't know exactly which helmets made had the bad adhesive, and only know by customers contacting them. She is sending me an Email with a Return Authorization for UPS, and I'll be able to ship the helmet to them for free, and they will put a new piece on in about two days, then ship the helmet back. She said shipping to Ca from Pa is about 5 to 6 days. Hope this helps.
