you from Berryville VA? We have some of the greatest motorcycle roads in the country here in the Shenandoah Valley.

Bville-Bud 09-03-2017 07:35 PM

Berrvyille VA? Graduated from CCHS? What year. I was 82. I spend a little time in Gettysburg, love the mid-Atlantic, best motorcycle roads in America.

Biglerville, or Upper Adams...

A bit south is the best there is IMO. Just visited the Robbinsville NC region. Motorcycle bliss is the Cherohala Skyway. Wife and I took Sklyine Dr (boring) straight to the BRP. Epic ride!

OK so now that I have her, what to do first? I have downloaded the service manual & will start with the general maintenance stuff (oil, fluids, filters, etc.) anything else to be aware of? Starting to read the knowledge base here.

Wolverine 09-04-2017 05:54 AM

CCT's pronto!
Then a mosfet r/r. After that, ride worry free.

Oh, and don't ask what erl is best or tires. lol!

finepooch 09-04-2017 06:32 AM

smokinjoe73 09-04-2017 03:30 PM

Welcome to the best forum for the best bike.

There are only a few nuts on here. Don't listen if they tell you I'm one.

Ride safe.

NHSH 09-05-2017 03:28 PM

Welcome and enjoy the ride

AlanS 09-05-2017 05:10 PM

Welcome. They're very good bikes. As noted do manual CCTs and R/R.

Oil changed first. Some idiot put both the filter & drain plug on TIGHT! Oh well no damage and now there is fresh blood in the bike. Picked up some DOT 4 brake fluid today and will do the brakes & clutch fluid next.

Bville-Bud 09-06-2017 10:27 AM

Brakes bled, clutch fluid R&R, air filter ordered ($50+ bucks ouch!).

Help me out on plugs. I'm thinking NGK DPR9EIX-9 Iridium, is that right?

Wolverine 09-06-2017 07:38 PM

Looks about right, lol!

I hate when people get ham fisted on the filters. For cripes sake, it doesn't hold the engine cases together!

Although I love my 15 ZX14R, I've been riding the VTR much more this summer, even with the shite forks n bearings. So much fun!
