What are some opinions on this bike? I rarely see BMWs discussed here, anyone ever ride this bike?? |
it sure looks sweet :)

My buddy rode his K1200S when we did our trip around Lake Michigan this past August. 1000 miles in 36 hours. No problems and he was not sore. Its one hell of a bike. I noticed this one has a rebuilt title, but he has a list of what was damaged. Check into it first and if you feel confident, then it sounds like a great bike for the price. (I'd low ball him though).

It's not a Honda...
|
I'm sure it has a stomping motor, but it's too big and too heavy for my tastes.

Rode 'em lots when I was selling them.
All good. Wicked clean and fast motor. Nice tranny, about where honda I-4s were in early 2000's. Sticky suspension but front feels weird on long swells, almost like the bike is slowing down as it compresses. Different from the telelever on older bikes. Nothing but confidence in this machine. Very few mechanical issues. Buy it, waste it, sell it to someone who goves a F*** about the name, make money. Cheers. |
I have the S version. great bike. there are many times I find myself not needing the sh anymore. they r very fast and handle very well for a slightly bigger bike. they aren't busas, but close and no way to use more power. I would say you have to ride it first. these bikes have low throttle fueling issues, some worse than others. it can result in a clunking first through third shift unless usinf almost a clutchless technique. I mean harley-type clunk. again not a deal breaker, but some bikes worse than others so you must have a test ride. the ABS and elect adjust suspension are awesome. but the 05-06 had servo assist brakes that are an acquired taste. I love my bike, but these are the legit issues with the model. good luck
