I like the concept, do you have any pics of what you are starting with?
|
I had an XS-1 back in 76 or 77, cool bike that vibrated quite a bit as I recall...
|
Yeah, that was Yamaha's attempt at copying a Triumph, minus the oil leaks.
But that is one very nice looking flat track bike. |
What's not to like?
Did I read correctly? You plan to make it street legal?:D |
I don't like it
I love it........Thats kick ass |
Love it! It has all the right lines. My brother had a later XS, I think it was just called a special. It DID vibrate a lot, but it was a very nice little bike, nicer than the smaller Honda twins in some ways.
(I think it was none other than Jay Leno that REALLY slammed the XS650.) Someday I'll have enough money for a project bike. It will be a RD400, early 70s Bonnie or a Buell S1, but I've lusted after a worked XS forever. I recall there being quite a lot of aftermarket stuff made for the bike in a weird, underground scene. I wonder if I still have that catalog... |
yea it ll b street legal, only camera i have is cell phone, i ll play around after i get off n c if i can put a pic on here, it was bone stock few months ago, now it have rear seat and fender kit, i gotta paint it tho...
|
i am not putting that exhaust in pic on there, it cost over a grand, 2 into 1 on the side will have to do...
|
Cool project, I love 'em. How 'bout some pics of what you're starting with. I had an '80. Ran great and was a fun bike. It originally came with the stock 2 into 2 exhaust drilled out and it sounded awesome, actually much like a harley-at least in bottom half of the revs. It was ugly however & I got a good deal on a new MAC 2 into 1. While it looked cool, it sounded like shit. Completely changed the sound of the bike. If you haven't already you may want to try to hear one before you buy it.
Are those Jemco's on the bike in the pic? They sure look and sound good. Too bad they're so $$$. |
Killer look, how about supertrapp for the pipes? who the hell on here over 50 hasn't owned an XS 650 twin at some time?? Ahhh the good ol days...

Looks great! Lose the number plate before it melts itself to that awesome looking exhaust.
