howdy, from a new guy

i'm trading my beloved '05 st1300 today for
a 2000 superhawk, so i thought i'd check this
place out. hope you guys are ready to answer
a bunch of stupid questions.

first off...what options are there for getting farther
on a fill-up? any bigger tanks available?

anyone here from the dallas tx area?

one of the most important things to improve gas mileage is to use specific engine oils and tires. any of these guys will be more than happy to answer questions about it.

A VFR tank is probably your best bet for getting more range. Other people know much more about that. There's also a CF and fiberglass tanks out there, but they're big $$. I have a CF tank and can go ~200 miles between fill-ups.

Welcome aboard! VFR tank with some mods seems the way to go or find someone overseas with the larger 19l tank on a Firestorm that wants to sell it (good luck with that one)

Personally i'm ready for a short break after 120 miles...

oneshot 11-13-2007 12:20 PM

will a vfr tank bolt on, or is there some
modifying to be done? how big is a vfr
tank?

i own a machine shop, so, maybe there's
market potential here? 8^)

Oneshot,

Lots of info on this site. I won't give you the "search function" answer since I'm a new guy also.

here is the thread about a VFR tank on a VTR:
https://www.superhawkforum.com/forum...ad.php?t=6983&

To answer your thought, YES, there would be interest in a High Capacity Fuel tank that didn't cost an arm or a leg.

Here is one of the aftermarkets that is out there, so that you can get a feel for how much they are charging.

Yeah sometimes the "search" answer gets overused. Depends on the question.

Oneshot, do you own a machine shop, or more like a custom fabrication shop? I'm sure some of the guys might have a list of some of the things they'd love to seen custom machined for the Superhawk that the aftermarket doesn't make.

been mostly making stuff for the kawasaki concours and v-stroms.

...but now i have a superhawk! rode it the 1st time this evening and
it ROCKS!!!....
