How to remove Headlight bulb?

Had my highbeam go out on me the other day. Went to replace the bulb and had much trouble. Any tips on a clean removal of lightbulb?

It really is a feel deal...you can not "see" what your doing
The retainer wire clip gets squeezed in and down from the right side,, it kind of hooks into the housing.

I agree its all feel. You cant see it as you are doing it but shine a light in there and stare at it to get a sense.

Its most like a safety pin. Opening is way easier than closing. You must first pry off the connector, then the rubber boot. Then push the right side of the clip towards the front of the bike & up to release it.

Btw, clean the new bulb with rubbing alcohol and wear nitrile gloves or DONT touch the bulb with bare fingers. The oil from your skin will cause it to fail prematurely.

If you've got large hands and can't find a small child to delegate the job to - sometimes it's best to undo fairing (4 bolts and mirrors) and slip it forward a couple of inches to get more access room.

I agree its a pain in the ass to replace the blood bulb. Best is to remove the whole front cowl to access it better.
