Headlight bulb retainer clip
 

I was doing a simple lighbulb replacement job on my 99 Shawk until I unscrewed the retainer clip that puts tension onto the headlight bulb to hold the bulb in place. Once I unscrewed it, the retainer sprang off. So naturally, when I went to look for it I stepped on it. I didn't step on it too hard so I don't think it's too far out of shape. The retainer clip is a pretty wierd shape, if you could call it that, it's more of a zigzag piece of coat hanger-like material. I've searched the web for shop manuals and micro fische (http://www.burniemorgan.com/firestorm/vtr_fiche.zip)
and none of them had a picture of the retainer clip! :x I was wondering if anybody could tell me how it goes back on or if anybody could send a picture of their fully assembled headlight from the driver's side with the dust cover off so I could get an idea of how to put this thing back on.

Hmm...sorry, I'm not so good at the explaining thing over the interweb. Where are you located? I might be able to meet up with you and show you.

Essentially, the straight, long piece goes underneath the screw. There should be two bends on the retainer which would hold the bulb in against the headlight opening. The last "side" would be a small tab that can be bent a little bit to swivel underneath a tab.

I'm shipping a headlight assembly to a guy tomorrow. I'll take a shot of it before i send it off. Also, if I can get a good shot of the VTR manual, I'll post that also.

You're right, it is hard to describe how to put the thing on.
