Hawk vs Cbr Vs GSXR

So I just bought an 03 superhawk. I have a friend with an 04 cbr 600rr and a friend with an 08 gsxr 600. Now i know the rider is what makes the difference but i really just want to hear some opinions on the bikes performance. In straight line acceleration and 1/4 mile how does the hawk compare to these two bikes. I love my bike and would still chose it over the other two but would still like to know what you think.

Both 600s are lighter and have more top-end power. The VTR will get the better of them on initial take-off and in roll-ons but other than that it`s probably toast (a stock VTR anyhow :) )....

if you only run on an eighth mile track, you'll take them becuase of the better bottom end and torque. Take them on a 350 mile day of riding and see who feels better at the end of the day. :)

Also, you may wanna consider changing the gearing a little to make sure you smoke them at the start! I'm running 16t sprocket up front and 43t in the rear and it helps. Many folks run 15x43, but that was a little too buzzy for me on the interstate at 80 mph oops I mean 70:)

I think stock is 16x41...

even with the torque advantage you dont think the hawk will keep up?

I run 16x43 as well, just street use - perfect for me.

All those bikes are nice, but it really is the rider at the end of the day with this comparison. Life is not a straight line... JB

The SH will "keep up" till those bikes get up in their RPM, then they'll start to pull, at about 145 the gap will really open up when your at Redline and they're still going to 160+.

In the twisties, the riders abilities take over, the low end torque takes over, then the SH has the advantage.

In a straight line, you'll get the jump, they'll wind up, and you'll be seeing taillights.

what speed do you think the i4 s will CATCH the hawk.

are there any mods you would recomend that would make it an even race?

Lead weights in their gastanks? Fat chick on the rear?

Nah seriously, a bit shorter gearing makes you take of even better, but the hawk just doesn't have the revs and hp to beat them in outright speed...

You can modify the engine and add some 30-40 hp over the stock hundred... Then you should be a bit closer but that's not cheap... Ask me how I know, lol... And I'm still only at around 20+...

I was on a cbr forum and the quickest claimed 1/4 mile for an 04 600rr was 10.8 which is what ive seen for a superhawk as well. does this sound accurate?

Tweety 06-03-2010 01:52 PM

I think 11. something was the best claimed, but not to much of the CBR's time...

pwshadow 06-04-2010 08:04 AM

whats the best 0-100 mph time anybodys seen on a superhawk?

My buddy and I just took a fairly long trip. I had my SH and he had a CBR600RR. The 600 will smoke the SH in almost every category, except for these:

1) 600s suck on a long trip.
2) 600s suck riding around town.
3) Sport riding on non perfect roads.

If I had the cash for a second bike I'd definitely look into a 600 (name the brand). I don't so I guess I just have to settle for the best damn motorcycle ever built. The more I ride the SH the more I like it.

pwshadow 06-04-2010 02:20 PM

oh I agree. I love the sound and the low end is why i bought it. It may not be able to beat a 600 but i found out yesterday it will embarass a Porsche 911!
