so i was wondering if i cut the baffles out of my stock pipes will i need to
rejet the carbs

I didn't need to rejet, but I did need to raise the needles with a #4 brass washer on each.

did they sound good

any body else have anything to say

I ran debaffled pipes with stock jetting for a long time ran great. Although I must say it really comes down to each bike as we had to lean out the jetting on my buddies bike even though he had aftermarket pipes. That to say try it, if it runs fine leave it, if not its only off a little and its not hard to jet the carbs.

I've taken them out of two different superhawks. Some start by drilling some holes in the first baffle. That doesn't make it too much louder though. To make it sound more like a set of aftermarket pipes I took out the first baffle and the piece of pipe, and then (with a really long drill bit) drilled more holes in the next baffle in. For the price (free) it's pretty loud & sounds great. I've never had an issue putting a set of aftermarket pipes on my superhawk and leaving the carbs alone. Now would it run better rejetted? I'm sure, but they always ran fine as is. I had a gsxr600 that would have a horrible flat spot just changing between an akrapovic and a vance & hines can but my superhawks never seemed to be so sensitive.

My bike had four holes drilled in the first baffle by the p/o, I further bored those holes out and drilled four more. Got a hell of a stutter around 3-3500 rpm's in the bottom three gears. Installed a Jardine rt1 six months later, still had the same stutter. Installed a jet kit and cleared it all up. I guess it may depend on how much of the baffle you remove.

ok well so far i took the real old school approach
i took a rod and ran it down the pipe in the center of the first baffle and opened op the rest of the baffles then drove a rebar the same way then drilled 8 holes in the rear baffles. sounds pretty good but not loud enough for me yet lol.

still runs real good.

I would suggest (but not expect to be followed) that you live with it for awhile first.
I drilled holes in the baffle and it sounded great at first, now it's kind of annoying and I wish it weren't so loud.
Been thinking of plugging some of the holes with sheet metal screws.
Definitely not putting on the 2 Bro pipes!
