Hard Time Selling?
Hello,
First time posting, but ive been on this site to find countless information on my superhawk. Currently I am a student in San Diego and im having to resort to selling my 2002 VTR superhawk for some extra money. However, for some reason no one seems to be responding to my craigslist post! Honda VTR 1000 Here it is, if anyone could care to give me some pointers?! I've never had a problem like this before trying to sell a bike and it is in great condition! no issues! Are these bikes just hard to sell? Low demand? Please let me know! thank you! |
Couple of suggestions:
1. Show a photo of the right hand side; when a seller only shows one side I become very suspicious 2. Add the US model name "Superhawk" into the title, to help get found in searches. 3. You might want to list the extras the bike has (I can see the mufflers, aftermarket shock and hugger) but maybe there are other good bits e.g. manual camchain tensioners. 4. Tyres and chains are expensive consumables; you might want to describe the life left or condition of these. Good luck. |

Looks like aftermarket seat. List that goodie as well. Tell the people what they are getting for the price you want. Not all pictures say a thousand words. |
As others have stated, marketing..marketing, marketing.
Get some keywords in there in the title and in the body. Absolutely get it out of the garage, in good backlight and get 4 pics left, right, front and rear. Absolutly list all the aftermarket goodies and condition of wear items as suggested. List it on several local CL locations, changing the ad slightly, but not so in actual content. Last week I got the urge to consolidate and get down to just two motorcycles in the garage. I put the VTR on Craigslist for $2800 and I got a call that evening from an excited guy that want to come right over. I got to thinking about it and if he was that excited 1) I had it priced too low and 2) I want to keep any bike that someone else wants really bad. I told him I was taking it off the market and that it was not for sale. I took my ad down. I have taken it out twice since and I am glad I kept it.
One thing, be cognizant of when you post your ad. People are often looking closer to the weekends and you don't want to get buried in the listings. Like it or not a lot of people just don't search or are not searching for your brand of bike. I have found that I have gotten the most traction when reposting an ad. |

One thing Sierra is not, and that's a photographer. Use the natural light to light the bike....and not the camera lens ! You might as well just put vaseline on your camera lens, and you'll get that same blurry/David Hamilton effect.
If you wish to attract more than just the connaisseur, then you need to have better quality pictures. GLWS |
I know that I should keep the VTR but the VFR is much more comfortable, and almost as much fun to ride. The VTR is a more narrow focus bike and it is a laugh riot within those narrow confines. I am keeping it (for now.)
